    This map is 16 Jan 1945. The Americans manage to reinforce their toehold but the Germans have placed blocks around the south side.

    This map is 17 Jan 1945. The Americans attempt to reach their isolated companies but lack the strength from three days of fighting.

    This map is 18 Jan 1945. Reinforced, the Americans continue the attempts to reach their isolated companies. The Germans launch a successful attack on the hilltop perimeter and drive G Company from their positions.

    hi!

    Did not work out getting to 410 & 400 unfortunately :-( .

    @Eric: I´m from Sarrebruck ;-) originally but i live now in Austria, so i will visit the vosges du nord less often, if art any time at all. 3-4 years ago, i spent a lot of time there, following the "Nord" and the american units aroudn phillipsbourg, baerehnthal and of course reipertswiller. Before i focused on the "Nord", i researched action of the "Götz v. Berlichingen" in the Bliesgau area, since around 2003. But later on, i shifted towards the Nord actions and even Hatten-Rittershoff-Gambsheim, but mainly Nord.

    If you got any questions, feel free to ask, got a lot of stuff. If you want, you are welcome to write an email to "Bliesgau1944-45@web.de" , even in french. But i think i lack some training, so dont wonder if there gonna be some funny phrases :)

    @Pabstat
    thank you very much for these explanations.
    Myself very passionate about everything that relates "Nordwind" (Reipertswiller, Philippsbourg, Little Wingen, Hatten, Rittershoffen, etc ...)
    I live a few miles from Reipertswiller and go there from time to time on the trail of the fighting from January 1945
    regards,

    Eric

    Managed to go on 410 last wednesday, but only for about 2 hours....no special items found, except a lot of ammunition and 2 francs of 1943.

    Do you own a detector? Could be quite interesting if one lives more or less on top of the battlefields. I´d say that there is still a lot of stuff to explore if one is familiar with the area and can easily and often go there. Not to mention the less known events.

    Those are map coordinates. Are you familiar with the Modified British System?
