well, as our Army and air force shrinks - to match the size of the ranges and camps available in the UK!!!...that excuse for keeping them in Germany for "training purposes" IS wearing thin....!
Ive felt that our guys should have been pulled out long ago. Maybe "we'll" follow Englands example???
This coin has two sides. First is nice to be "Free" and not to be guarded but the other side is that the US and UK Army has a lot of german empolyees. They will loose their work the region will loose a lot of economy and last but not least we will loose a lot of good friends! Sad for that.
It is probably inevetable that NATO will effectively cease to exist in the next decade or so. To be fair Their original job has been long done.
I'm sure a lot of folks in Subic bay, PI feel the same way. Likewise, the Okinawans will feel the same way when the USMC leaves. (they just don't know it yet)
TBH stationing troops in Germany has been a bit pointless for the last decade or so, and other than the jobs its created for German citizens in the area, its really not done much but drain resources.
