The only French tank I have found that resembles this is the
Char 2C, the super-heavy tank of which ten were built.

What do you think? Is this the Char 2C?

That's what it look's like to me, the French threw everything they had at the advancing German Army, so it's no surprise they would use something as outdated and rare as the Char 2C.

The damage to the turret in the Wikipedia photo of Normandie/Lorraine (#97) appears to match the damage in my photo.

Eight Char 2C (FCM-2C) were operational with the 51e Bataillon de Chars de Combat assigned to the Groupe de Bataillons de Chars 513 of the XLIIe Corps d' Armee de Forteresse of 3e Armee. Six were lost in action.
