For the record, Kaiser, I wasn't seriously suggesting that China should join Taiwan. I was just saying it could be argued, from the point of view that these two regimes have equal claim to the land and Taiwan has done a better job running itself so far than China. However, I already stressed that this was a joke. Naturally, the Chinese themselves would not want to hear of such a merger, to the same extent that the Taiwanese refuse to rejoin China.

    Still...
This comparison would only work if the Confederation's new state, like Taiwan, had developed a society and culture of its own that is quite distinct from the original country. In that case it would already seem a lot less logical for the two states to become one again.

The simple fact is that just because a certain region "traditionally" belonged to a certain country, that doesn't mean it should forever be considered a part of that country. Unless you are willing to advocate that East Prussia be given back to Germany, western Turkey to Greece, the upper Nile to Egypt, Ukraine to Russia...

Also, the Russians and Chinese are not the only holders of T-Bills. Other governments also buy them but there are also many financial institutions and Wall Street companies who buy them.

There are many checks and balances in the US Treasury bills and and bonds. These are here deliberately so nobody can crash the US economy similar to what happened in the Wall Street crash of the Great Depression.

Guess who gets the interest (China and Russia mostly). War is a profitable bussines especcialy if run by someone who's policy is like "running around like a madman with a razor blade in his hand." (Quote from Russian prezident Putin)

Rather it be expensive in cost them in lives. (American or Iraqhi militarys havnt lost a soldier in a week and a day) Also thats by the year 2015.

And since America still is the richest country in the world, it can handle it.
