You will begin to notice new subforums cropping up from time to time. We are in the midst of a restructuring of the forum, that when completed, will make it easier for members to navigate around and find pertinent threads. As the new subforums are created, old threads will be moved into the subforum, starting with the oldest and working forward to current posts. Initially, these new forums will be closed to both new thread creation and new post additions in the existing threads. As the new subforums get filled in, they will be opened for use.
So far all I can say is "WOW", what a great idea and I cannot imagine how difficult it is to sort through all the threads and post to produce this even better "division of labor"! Now, if you guys could make it so we could spread more "rep" without being banned from giving it to the "good ones" when they do add good to great stuff. That "you must spread" is rather a pain, sometimes there aren't other placed that deserve more. Ah well, a great place getting better isn't a bad thing by any stretch. Thanks again for all work done by the "powers that be".
Well done Jeff appreciate the forum update. Look forward to the improvements you speak of. all the best, Jem
"Ways and means" (gathering intelligence), "methods" (decryption, code-breaking) and "application" (how intelligence was used in the war.) Material that would be appropriate would be "Magic", "Ultra", Enigma, bombes, etc. How did we gain the information, how did we make sense of it, and how did we use?
Sounds good, can't wait to see how the board looks all finished up One change i think would possibly make the information request section of the board is if you split it between medal Identification, and maybe General Information Request, but thats the only thing i would suggest, everything looks good on my end as is.
Tossing out another "possible" would be sub-forums under weapons for "Naval", "Land" and "Air". (Possibly one for "Civilian"? Trains, and merchant vessels?) You don't need to reply to this, it's in the pool and you can decide based on what's best for the forum at large.
Jeff is doing a tremendous job with this, not only he takes initiatives, but we keep him busy with our own requests. The sub sections will allow bette reading and a more comprehensive site. In return we ask our rogues to respect the new sections and to try whenever possible not to open threads in the wrong section, (or you might be in trouble with Lou, who is our lost post terminator.
Great to see the plan. It will certainly help people searching for specific information. Such a lot of work though! Thank you for your efforts.
Well done gents. I noticed a few new additions in the Militaria section. Glad to see a more permanent place for photos to reside in. It's getting harder to remember where mine and others photos are posted and im sure Skippers fingers are getting tired of posting my new stuff. Tonight there should be at least a few more-though these will be expensive ;-(
Moving all the militaria posts is going to take a while, there are many more than the What ifs. However, we're leaving the new militaria webforums open as we move them, instead of closing them as we did the what ifs.
