Following the victory at Gazala, the Allied forces are retreating towards the city of El Alamein. Intelligence suggests that some defenses are under construction, but their strength is unknown. Allied air and naval forces continue their dominance, but supplies are still considered sufficient for a thrust towards Cairo, assuming the supply flow is left largely uninterupted. Intelligence reports a strong armoured presence, though it is believe that the morale and condition of the equipment is lacking from the recent retreat.
Chris. El Alamein was a couple of whitewashed railway buildings and a well or three. Hardly a city. (Even by Danish standards ).
It still is (I estimate maybe 100 houses in total, from what I can see on Google Earth), but compared to a desert, there's an abundance of houses.
