Nice additions Gents ;-)) I almost picked up and would have been very cheaply too-many imperial pics-just that I figured the WWII pice were most important at the time.
Hello Skipper, that is interesting, I had never heard about or seen that kind of Money notes. Thanks for showing - learned something The below is a Bavarian MVK I Kl. without Crown View attachment 10522 Regards Kruska
We sure do!! - thanks for the Salute - Skip. I believe the collection of Bavarian Service orders in regards to my family posession is complete - exept for the Orden vom Pfälzer Löwen Maybe one day, I will run into the two orders that are still in private collectors hands - will cost a medium car - so I guess I will keep eyeing on it in my mind View attachment 10523 View attachment 10524 Regards Kruska
Hi Andy, those are nice andd ive always wanted to acquire those but-the Militaria from the Lesser Period somehow seems to have a bit more appeallllllll.............  But seriously, I WILL get a few of those before all is said and down for ;-))
Nice pipe Remco ,great find again Heres some more German ww1 items and a bavarian membership pin ,wondering wether a shooting or veterans club ,cant say anything about its age yet ..maybe Kruska can help out on this pin ? The patriottic prinzengroße emailled iron cross set in a brocheholder is a commerative item for the feldzug 14-16 , the other was a french coin made into a broche also commemorating the 14-16 feldzug in Belgium .. like the coin a lot but its hard to capture it good on camera .. enjoy :
Hello Heinrich, nice collectables you got there. As for the Bavarian pin ZGB, the only thing that springs into my mind and somehow matches the Royal Bavarian coat of Arms would be the: Zentralverband der Gemeindebeamten Bayern Central Union of the Community Serice Bavaria I have never seen a pin - so I wouldn't bet my live on it. A badge of the ZGB: View attachment 11037 View attachment 11038 Maybe this can help you Regards Kruska
Thanks for the info Andy ..could not find any info about it before . It came with a small lot of ww1 and before pins as a bonus ,but hadnt thoughd of a civilberechtigdenbund ..ill post some of the other pins that came with it later .
two other ancient german pins ,came together with the bavarian pin from my previous post : Kingdom of Hannover and Wilhelmshaven ..both well before WW1, likely from before the 1870 wars even . The Wilhemshaven pin i was told is a commemorative pin for the opening the newly created navy harbour at Wilhemshaven in 1869 ? The kingdom of Hannover pin i know very little about , only that the kingdom was attached to Prussia in 1886 . Appears to be a cutout coin ,but im not shure wether to see it as a very nationalistic item or as a a sign of resistance against the new attachment to Prussia ? (for those interested in the forming of germany as we know it today theres a a good article to be found here:http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/12519c.htm ) enjoy
Hello Heinrich, I never thought about collecting pins as such - but seems like an interesting hobby to me. The Wilhelmshaven pin looks real nice. The only pin I have is that of the Kriegsmarine and the prices for that 1cm2 pin are getting redicilous. The other is a threesome of EK/KvK/Wound badge. View attachment 11055 Regards Kruska
Actually these were all side catches Andy ..but it seems they form a small collection on their own by now Havent got enough nice old frames yet , but membership pins etc do kind of belong to medalgroupings as well ,so when i stumble upon these i like to buy them for later use in a display . I try to avoid groundfinds mostly but have one that became my favourite ..black ,rough and oxidized when I got it , and because there were scratches all over decided to put it in the steamer and started to polish it . My luck was it was covered in some tar like substance and it looks like new again now ..the pics are from a earlier period where i'm still rubbing it clean and some discolourarions were still visible .. (its not a valuable item btw but its a very well made high quality piece .) I like the absurd but lovely symbolism on the medal , the maid of victory holding the grapes of victory , all a soldier has to do is open the mouth and chew 'em ..piece of cake ! my god , how many believed that marching off into belgium to pick them 'fruits of honour' ... Fur das Vaterland 1914 -W enjoy
I have more frames than I can dream off. Dealers throw them away all the time after markets because the glass is broken. I usually pick them up and replace the glass and bingo! I also often get large golden color painting frames which are almost intact with the exception of a chip here and there. The greatest is that there is sometimes an old calendar or poster hidden behind . This is how I got my 80 x 60 cm 1882 dated military calendar.
I like the roundglassed old silver photoframes ..pity those are very wanted nowadays. Size just big enough to place a medal set underneath on some velvet . Have some bigger antique frames , but those quickly look overcrowded . Lets say those are waiting for a few 6 or medal medal bars or more in the future
Hello Heinrich, I like this medal too - anything with a touch of Jugendstil (Art Deco) actually. Guess you and Skipper have to collect some of those little treasure boxes in order to deposit your other treasures. View attachment 11073 View attachment 11074 View attachment 11075 I have quite a few of them, and somtimes I actually forget as to where I deposited what Oh and Skipper, nice pipe you got there. I have one from the Hannover Ulan Regiment and that bugger is more then a meter long Regards Kruska
great looking pins guys - lovely detail on some of them cool pipe too skipper.....would you ever smoke out of it? .....smell the history!
