I usually do, the thing is, as I have said, we as a whole don't really know who to contact at the moment. It isn't apparent.

I appreciate that, and I don't expect each individual member to read each post, my point is that Ricky (Sorry mate) said that there are a total of around 10 Moderators/Admins on here, with that kind of presence it should be possible to police these boards pretty thoroughly, yet pretty hardcore stuff is getting through and lasting for a considerable length of time.

I would suggest that if you want a realistic idea of the practical Admin/Mod team strength on here, if the individual hasn't averaged 1 post per 24 hours recently (Say the last 6 months) then they probably aren't on here enough to warrant Moderator privileges. I would certain dismiss Moonchild and Diablo, I do not mean to sound harsh but if neither of them have posted in the last year then they do not deserve Moderator status.

I have done so in the past and with the notable exceptions of replies from Ricky my reports have gone largely unacknowledged, a simple "Thanks" for reporting a Spammer or Spam thread would count for a great deal. At least it would give some indication that such reports were being read rather than being a wasted effort.

I am willing to help improve the forum and have volunteered to help directly in the past, I get a tad frustrated when there is no active encouragement to do so.

    Chris.

I assumed that helping to test out new software would be "techy" type thing of which I have no knowledge, and therefore thought I would be of no help.
If it really is as easy as you describe, count me in. I'm ony too glad to be of assistance to this wonderful forum.

    David.

You can always check if the PM you've sent has been read, by looking out your outbox. If the message is there, it hasn't been read. When I get a message about spam, I'll usually just delete the spam in question. With the new forum software, you'll automatically get a message when a post you reported was handled.

    Uh....see ya in three years?

You mods do a great job of deleting stuff. Haven't seen anything in a few months now. Good job.

No my parents did not see my comments, they just think that I should not be going on an adult forum thats all, and anyway I never replied to one of the spammers, I only commented about it in the Call To Arms section. I never said spamming was right, and I never said looking at porn was right either.

    Goodbye.

I think Simon has a good point, even with less than 10 active mod/admins.

Agreed. Especially, do not answer to any spam messages. Why? It makes finding them easier. Atleast for me. Althought I dont write here on daily basis, I read some parts of this forum almost every day (actually, many times per day), thought I don't log in. If I see a suspicious looking thread or suspicious looking last poster in some thread, I check it. Thats why it is easier (atleast for me) to find spammers if no-one replies to them.

That Simon is what I was asking, how many people are in a position to remove unwanted posts? I, being retired am on PC at any times, but as Simon said!!!! with 10 such persons for the porn to remain was a disgrace. From the 50 plus viewers how many do you think downloaded it? We even had one long time poster telling me that I was spoiling the fun! If Tim's parents saw anything like this I can well understand them throwing a wobbly. I was intending to cut down on my posting but felt this needed bringing forward, Richard did remove it eventually but surely others saw it?

    Hey commando,

I know what you have to go through. ;)

A few years ago I had the same prob., just with ma extensive use of the computer, hehe. Every WE LAN xD. There is no problem, which can´t be solved with a fine conversation. Try to see it out of the eyes of your parents, they just try to take care of you. So they can´t "control" if you browse in a military forum and what you see, you know, if you´re young you are more susceptible for radical views, you can be influenced by negative elements. So
guess your parents just wanna save you from anything that would have a bad impact on your future. You know becoming a "Nazi-military freak", wouldn´t be so good for a professional career.

As we say in german Besser spät als nie. Alles hat seine Zeit. Better later then never. Everything take its time. :)

Best wishes for you and your future,
    Che.

May I make a suggestion? Could we have a 'Sticky' on Members Page called 'SPAM ALERT'? used only to alert Admin/Moderators to unwanted posts, perhaps in 'Flickering Red Letters'?

Well, as mentioned above, there will be a different system with the new software, so I don't want to implement some system now which will be replaced soon anyway.

It would hardly be a 'system' Chris, I could have posted it as 'New Topic' but was just a suggestion.

I do appreciate your suggestion, but I just really want to concentrate on getting the new forum software up and running, as this will solve a lot of problems (both in regards to spam and otherwise).

About that list (which was off the top of my head)

    Admin = Christian & I
Ex-Admin = Roel & Skua - I managed to think that they still had powers that they do not
Moderators - at the moment the only moderators that are particularly active are Notmi, Corp & PP, but they tend to stick to pretty defined areas of the forum. The post that started this hole thing was posted in the one forum that gets the least action* (pre-WW2 armour) which is why it was overlooked by most. And yes, as I explained before, I do read every new post on this forum. Maybe I need to get out more...

    * Possibly a bad choice of phrase given the circumstances

    commando ,exiled by parental fiat

i cant belive a 15 yr old would be cut off of this forum by his parents because of a picture of a naked woman ,or whatever ,and excluded from this great community of world class minds wink ,wink ,

such a silly priority , like a teenage kid cant find a way to see all the worlds porn with a small effort these days
come watch tv instead of learn and write about history ,good idea !
ive learned more history in here in two weeks than in a semester in any high school classroom .
