H.M. Submarine Umbra, returning home after twelve adventurous months in the Mediterranean with 16 victories marked upon her skull and crossbones flag. The crew, under the command of Lt. S L C. Maydan, D.S.O., R.N., had many exciting stories to tell of their experiences … On one occasion they believe that the explosion caused by one of their torpedoes hitting an enemy supply ship was so great, that it destroyed an escort plane diving above the blazing vessel.
