"Hitler's attitude towards the USA was not one of hostility but of a firm desire to maintain American neutrality as long as possible"

BS, to put it most nicely. Hitler considered the US to be "a nation of mongrels". And he didn't like US assistance to the UK at all. Couple this with the basic tenet that democracies were to be destroyed whenever found. Ta-flippin'-da.

    Awesome cartoons!

Are these posted from personal collections or is there a national archive out there?

Why this cartoons is so funny!?-I dont think so...In my opinion, this pictures is stupid and lies!
Of course, the USSR signed a friendly agreement with Germany, but it was totally political hod.Stalin understood that his country would not be able to resist the Nazis at the moment, he needed time to prepare the country for war.A Hitler, decided to sign a contract due to lack of resources Germany

Since when did humor have anything to do with reality?

    And propaganda.

Stalin took half of Poland and the Baltic States at the beginning of WWII in Europe. Nobody knew Hitler would attack the USSR later, some people were afraid that the Soviets would be friendly, if not actually allied, to the Axis powers, a situation that had dire consequences for the Western Allies. After France fell it was even worse for England. So Lowe and the other cartoonists were trying to play up the treacherous nature of the Nazi-Soviet Pact and at the same time assure people that it would never last.

The Daily Show, Stephen Colbert, Bill Mahr, and, of course, the entire cast of Faux News. (I'm surprised The Onion hasn't sued Faux News.)

Excellent. I like seeing political cartoons from non-US sources. They're aimed at "the people" in most cases (like the ones you posted, from TASS I think), so it tells us what they're supposed to think about us.

We had a plenty of posters. Probably they will seem to us at present ridiculous. Here some of them:

Excellent collection! I saw several of those when I was writing on the Nazi-Soviet Pact and it's effect on the Soviet and German film industry. I had to get the whole propaganda picture to put the fine focus into context.

Speciall 4 you Carl W Schwamberger
At these posters there is a Russian folklore which is very heavy for translating
    1)For the Native land-mother
    2)Let's defend Moscow
3)You have returned to us a life!
    4)Beat to death!
    5)On the West!
6)It is more than metal-more of the weapon
7)Red army a broom, the evil spirits has expelled completely
    8)Glory of Red army-rescuer
9)Yes the Soviet pilots, proud falcons of our Native land are well!

"Oceania is at war with Eastasia....Oceania has ALWAYS been at war with Eastasia"...

The N/S Pact was the physical manifestation of a brilliant piece of writing from the novel '1984'. Eric Blair certainly hit his prediction bang on target, a testament to just how deeply he understood the nature of Russian Socialism, and how predictable it really was.

Pity that Western Euro statesmen did not have the same level of cynical insight into the Soviet Union. The Pact seems to have come as a surprise to all concerned.

BTW...the cartoon posted is actually a spiritual copy of the original cartoon from Egypt's foremost political caroonist of the period ,KEM. Kem's original work showed both dictators tied together at the heel, pointing in the same direction and grinning, but each with a hand on his gun.

It is a wonder the well informed members of this forum have not noticed this particular ommission from a thread such as this one...

Just pointing out the Pact came first, then the novel.

I smell propaganda? Those Soviet pictures are interesting, they don't include Stalin in them. Most all posters included Stalin. Glad not to see his face for once.
