You get to a certain age.....David Icke comes to mind...

But now I'm confused, I know him, I know his history...not a pun....but I've been told many a time, and by some on here that he has written a few books that are considered essential reading for the ww2 buff.

I have been tempted to get one or two of those, now am I to believe there is nothing I should be interested in?

    Coupla quotes from THC LOL.

"His biography of Hitler's conduct of the war is first class, using only primary sources, not the usual hearsay we get from authors such as Gerhard Weinberg whom I saw on a recent documentary where Weinberg makes the usual discredited claim that Hitler and Goebbels were behind the Reichstag fire. Irving has already published two volumes on Churchill's running the British government during the war which again are first class since they portray the real Churchill, not the white-washed portrayal we get in the English-speaking world. "

    and,

" Frankly I wouldn't trust Johann Hari a great deal more than I would David Irving. Like Irving the man is a liar; typical Independent columnist. It was rather amsing, but difficult to tell which parts were real (given the fact that Irving is a loon) and which parts were made up (given the fact that Hari is a fraudster)"

Irving is wired to the moon, but what a solidly good interview.

Handle with care is the advice. The tragedy is that he has had access to amazing sources and archives in the past but the credibility of all his work has been irreparably tarnished. He has written books ( for example his biography of Erhard Milch ) which should be essential but now cannot be trusted.

I would recommend reading Richard J Evan's 'Telling Lies About Hitler' for the full story behind Irving's selective treatment of his sources.
