Hey, folks. I thought some of you might like a look at this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Raising-Red-Ban ... pd_rhf_p_1 Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about its content. It's a warship reference with ~240 photos.
Looks very interesting. Does it have a short history of every vessel as well, like the books by Whitley have?
Here's my review: It's the best book ever written! [Please note that I am completely unbiased and that my opinion is definitive. All humans will love this book more than their own offspring.] [A little over the top...?] I'm hoping that the publisher will get a "Look Inside" posted at Amazon so you can see for yourself if it's likely to interest you. I suspect it will, if you have any interest in the Soviet Navy or WWII navies in general. The contents are arranged in six chapters: battleships, cruisers, destroyers, submarines, miscellaneous vessels, and war's-end booty. Appendices give tabular data on weaponry and small craft. Our aim was to give a strong visual presentation with text that wasn't just fluff and filler. If you've seen FLEETS OF WORLD WAR II, you'll have an idea how I approach the subject.
Interesting. There isn't that much information about Russian navy available so that should book should find its audience. By the way, Christmas continues up to March: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Big-Gun-Monitor ... 370&sr=1-1
Ah! Ian's book will be considerably revised and expanded from the original version. I see they're also listing Warship 2008 on that page, but Christmas has to stop sometime. Warship will include an article on the Pr 7/7U destroyers that Vladimir and I wrote.
