    Here you are, Otto - just for you......

    When I first went to Silverstone ( my Dad took me - in 1969 ! :oops: ) it was very much still an 'old airfield' ; straight out of 'Twelve O'Clock High'. Even then, I was fascinated by the old T2 hangars, disused runways, tumbledown crewrooms, the Braithwaite water tower, the track to the bomb dump, and so on.

    Today, it's well-nigh unrecognisable. Much of the WWII-era stuff has been swept away. But I took this picture a couple of years ago. It's been re-clad and it's hemmed in by other buildings, but it's still clearly the old WWII Control Tower. I wonder how many people hurry by without recognising it......
