English Wikipedia says - in line with many sources - that the Jagdpanzer 38 ("Hetzer") was based on a "modified Czechoslovakian Panzer 38(t) chassis".

However, one editor in the German Wikipedia claims that the chassis was too different from the 38(t) to be labeled like that. The current wording of the article says that "einige antriebstechnische Komponenten" (roughly "some propulsion components") of the Panzer 38(t) were re-used in the Jagdpanzer 38.

What do you think - is the expression "modified chassis" correct or rather not?

Hmm. I haven't got any serious reference tomes to hand, but I found this:

The possibilities for growing the excellent chassis of the Pz 38(t) were limited by the maximum processing capacity of 20t of the assembly factory.
Basically, the existing hull was made a few centimeters wider and longer and a casemate superstructure was mounted to accommodate the relatively large 7.5-cm gun.
From a design point of view, this was the easiest and fastest way to squeeze the maximum out of the existing possibilities.
