Let's Play the Das Boot RPG!

Here's the idea:
Let's do a RPG based off Das Boot.
Each site member will have to play a role from each major character and maybe some minor characters from the film and reenact the events of Das Boot or something else similar to it.

NOTE: If you have any comments/questions, comment here on this thread for we will not start this rpg until we all come to a final understanding.

Here are the characters:
-Kapitänleutnant(Jürgen Prochnow) - ?
-Der Erste Leutnant (Martin Semmelrogge)- ?
-Der Zweite Leutnant(Hubertus Bengsch)- ?
-Leitender Ingenieur (Klaus Wennemann)- ?
-Lieutenant Werner (Herbert Grönemeyer) - ?
-Nautiker- (Bernd Tauber)- ?
-der Mechaniker (Erwin Leder) - ?
-Seeman - ?
-Seeman - ?
-Seeman - ?

Here are the orders from Berlin:
-Leave the port of St.Nazaire, France
-Rendezvous with U-Boats 78, 77, 103 (within 14 days)50 nautical miles southeast from Reykjavik Harbor
-Wait there til a British convoy arrives.(the wait could take a week at most, I estimate)
-We must sink 3 ocean minesweepers-Halcyon, Salamander and Harrier. They are presently located 127 nautical miles southwest off the Icelandic coast.In addition, they will be accompanied by a freighter, an oil tanker, 5 merchant ships and two destroyers and a frigate.
-We must sink the freighter and tanker.


If it makes any easier, you prefer me narrating the challenges against you and it would be up to you, the crew, to respond to it well? believe me I've seen the movie though I'll tweak it a bit.

For those brave enough, how will we accomplish this mission with our Type VIIC submarine. Our sub is designated as U-96. Who knows how to work this beast??

and remember only the most deserving gets Prochnow's role. not just anybody can be that role. if there's any dissent, make your case for which role you take.

As for the "Seeman" roles, you can make up your own names for those. The names must be german, of course.

This is, of course, dependent on exactly what you intend in doing this but, I'm an engineer not a "front ender" (ie someone on a boat that works ahead of the engine rooms). I prototyped with the Naval Nuclear Power program on S5G and know the S5w and A1W plants along with 600 pound conventionals.
Chief engineer, yes captain, no. Stick with what you know is always a good rule.

Perhaps you should see who - if anyone - is interested in such a game before assigning positions.

 

I take it you are not interested amongst several others for some reason.

 

Based on the responses to this thread, it seems only two others are interested.

Remember, this Forum isnt an RP forum - most people are here to discuss various things pertaining to WWII, seek more information on relatives/units from the War, keep up-to-date on news pertaining to WWII-era, and the like.

The Simulations/Gaming Thread is more inclined to PC and Console games (hense the reviews i am writing up with Otto)...not so much a place to 'WWII-RPG'.
