It doesn't make any real difference whether they're in the list or not, since they don't have any benefit of being there. A solution is being worked on, but please have patience
It does make a difference since many have links in their profiles so their presence on the members list in general, but especially when they appear in the newest member section does show these links up which may be clicked by the unwary forum browser. However, if these sections of the Profile (links, website, interests, etc) were done away with and the signature section reintroduced then it would mean that the information there that was genuinely useful (For example links to Tony's site or Christian's) would still be accessable (All you'd need to do would be spend a few minutes on your signature), whilst this would only appear when individuals posted. It might prove at least a fairly useful stop-gap solution, I obviously don't know how easy or difficult it would be to implement though.
Websites no longer show up in profiles, Christian fixed this a while ago. Bot-made members serve no purpose whatsoever now. The signature function was not removed because of spammers putting URLs in them. We disabled them because we found that many members had borderline acceptable phrases in them that we felt were better left off the forums. On any given browser page they do nothing more than taking up space, regardless.
