The McCartney sisters seem to have dropped from view. I suppose the Media circus was always going to loose interest pretty quickly, still it is a pity since they will never get justice for their brother. The only question is will the British and Irish continue to press SF/IRA or will they go back to the usual appeasement policies in a few months.

    The later I imagine.

I perfectly understand your desire to mollify all sides however I think it is overstating the case to characterize my remark as a personal attack.
By "people like GP" I meant "people who share his opinion " who tend to focus in on something like the few people out of hundreds of millions of Americans that donated money to the Irish political wing of the IRA.
No personal attack on GP was intended nor IMO would one be justified in characterizing my comments that way. No insulting or abusive language is present.

Under "personal attacks" only my remarks were noted whereas GP's:
is , anyway you look at it, directly purely at me, personally.
I may not always be as deferential to the (misguided ;) ) opinions of others as I ought to be but I do not use ad hominem as a debate tactic as I think it exposes the weaknesses of ones argument rather than strengthening it.

Grieg, if only you could have written all that in a PM to Ricky ( or one of the other moderators ) instead, I would have been a lot more happier.

When one of the moderators intervene, there“s not a matter of being fair ( although we try our best ), just to stop things from getting out of hand.

Since you asked. A certain individual, who shall remain nameless, insisted on PM'ing me with insulting personal attacks. I informed him that anything I had to say to him henceforth could be said in the open forum. Aside from that anyone is free to PM me.

ps. On the other sideof the coin Roel has PMed me several times and we had pleasant civil discussions regarding economics.

EDIT-- I posted the previous remarks based on the assumption that you were referring to my statement from a previous thread where I invited PMs if further discussion was desired. I now realize that you are talking about Ricky's post about PM'ing him if you have problems with what he wrote. My post could give one the impression that I didn't PM Ricky because I had a problem with him. That is certainly not the case.
    Now I understand.

You have a problem with me? :D

    No worries Grieg! ;)

Nameless individuals PM'ing insulting remarks should be reported to the Admin team (Skua or Roel). Such things are not on, and the Admin guys can deal with them if they become a problem.

Glad to hear that you have had positive PM experiences though! Roel & I had a good debate on religion by PM...
He's quite a pleasant chap to debate with, I found.

At first I thought you were talking about me (and so did others), could you clarify if these are the insulting PMs.

'I don't wish to take this further you sdon't listen to other people and only see what yo want to.

    Good bye '

    And

'I will not be replying to this thread anymore. '

You may call it paranoia but I would like people to know If I through insulting PMs around like confetti.

I know I havve insulted people but If I like them I generally apologise when I realise I have insulted them. I would also appreciate if this is not moderated as I genuinely think I am entitaled to know.

Are you meaning to imply that such remarks directed at me personally rather than addressing the issues are appropriate?

I mentioned no names and only brought it up in response to misunderstood comments by Ricky and Skua about PM's ..but since you brought it up. I'm not sure the admins and mods approve of taking the content of PM's and so forth to the public forums though.
Wouldn't you have done better to just drop the issue and not respond further rather than send me that PM?

If I believe it to be true then yes.

Becuase I have made it quite clear that I don't like you it was quite obvious that it was me who you meant. You made it quite clear to me that you didn't like discussing through PMs and as I have only made one remark that could be classified as insulting by anyone, and you made your post in the plural

Since you asked. A certain individual, who shall remain nameless, insisted on PM'ing me with insulting personal attacks.

I thought that I would clarify if you meant me or some other person.

I don't like posting this way but sometime one has to do things they don't like to clarify a situation.

Well now that we have cleared that up I see no reason to wash anymore dirty linen in public. Your opinion of me is of no consequence to me.
I considered your personal remarks directed at me insulting and and I have been advised that admins agreed. In the future if you will be so kind as to direct your comments at my opinions rather than at me we should have no problems.
    Cheers ;)
