The PPsh was the standard Russian Sub Machine Gun during the Great Patriotic War. It looked similar to the American Thompson but had a rounded drum magazine of 71 rounds capacity. Most Soviet Rifle Divisions were equipped with this weapon and it was particularly effective during the House to House type combat at Stalingrad and other cities where this type of fighting occurred. A sub version of this weapon was also produced called the PPs43 wich had a smaller magazine capacity and slightly different ammunition.
