Ok, ok you got me on that one. I never was a fan of the "book'em Danno" thing. I do like loud and gawdy Hawaiian shirts though. They conceal the shoulder holster, cuff case and spare magazine pouches nicely. And as explained above I donate to the needy, and the "gubment" helps themselves to taxes before I see it and what's left gets issued to me on pay day.

I was wondering what the heck you were going on about. I must have stared at that last night for 20 minutes trying to put a tune to it

ED: Just realised how off topic that was so I'll leave it for now, back to worrying about theft etc...

Theft? There's no theft in the utopian socialist society is there? Everyone there has health care, the best in the free world, the womb to the tomb policy, everyone has hand-outs and whatever is needed, and nobody pays for it, so why is there a need for theft?

Just trying to get the thread back on track here....

You clearly have absolutely no idea what you are on about, by definition in a socialist society only those who need handouts in order to survive receive them, the rest work. From each according to his ability, to each according to his need. Makes sense.

As for whether there would be theft, well I don't know if you've noticed but having everything you need doesn't stop people from stealing, it is greed that makes people steal not need.

Anyhow, by theft I was referring to the 'progressive tax rate' issue.

Yes, your definition of the socialist society works fine in theory, but I don't think that it will work here. We are not socialists, but there are plenty of hand-outs and gimme programs here, for both the truly needy and mostly for the ones that the democrats want keep as an under class in order for them to always vote democrat. It is the last group that abuses the system, and are always screaming for more.

I apologize for getting out of line by making statements as I did earlier. The system in Britain apparantly works over there, but socialism is a hard pill to swallow here. I don't think that it will work, and if it is forced upon us, it will not be the golden egg that the goose is promising.

Im all for socialism or the british idealism behind it... So when can we have it? As for its earlier success before it went off on its many tangents.. I.e. The nhs, most doctors were almost violently against it at inception. Not there view today.. Fear of fear is our biggest enemy on all matters.

Very true Urqh, fear of changecan be a terrible thing! Just a shame New Labour appeared and turned out to be slightly to the right of Churchill!

Stefan, thats pure BS and you know it. It might be true in some cases but, if a person is not hired for a good paying job and all they can get is a parttime job cutting yards-how the hell is that supposed to mean that they are lazy because they are not as priviledged as some are? If all a person can get is merely a job as a JANITOR--(I flat out refuse to call them Custodial Engineers-as that would be politically correct-and I aint politically correct and damned proud of it) Not everyone is suited to be a Brain Surgeon-nor a Corporate CEO.

The answer to your great question is: "To start a Revolution". We Amis did that once a few years ago :-D and it worked rather fine ;-))

But it's perfectly OK that YOUR people had people as slaves a hell of a lot longer than any of our people did. Hmm, another double standard. It's perfectly OK that other Countires had Slaves and for far longer than our Country did. Also, notice that it is not mentioned that Saudi Arabia still openly had slaves into the 1960's--at least 100 years after it was ended here.

VERY lame reply Stefan, and no-I have no direct English ancestors. I do from other UK peoples though. Got you good on this one even though YOUR opinion is the wrong one. I don't happen to have an inflated ego to be satisfied. Just admit it that YOU were wrong on what you mentioned, and "we" can let it go at that.

    Cheers.

PS, it was very late when I replied, I was tired and didn't think of slightly better wording and im on five meds which do alter things slightly-what's your excuse?
