    Some I didn't know about -
Jan 1945 HMS Trenchant & Terrapin on patrol in the Malacca straight, sunk trawlers etc by gunfire and RAMMING. They also bombarded an island. Convoys and escort vessels were sunk by torpedoes as well, but British subs in the areas of small islands and lots of traffic of small Jap ships used mostly gunfire; even to the point of running out of ammo. So an example of cooperation between subs during these missions was a trade of 60 rounds of 4" ammo for 10 dozen fresh duck eggs confiscated from an attacked vessel. Very resourceful, and important as the crews had already been on patrol for weeks.
More cooperation: In May, a U.S. sub had reported a Jap heavy cruiser in the Jakarta area, with the eventual result that Trenchant found the Japanese heavy cruiser Ashigara and fired a full salvo of 8 (!) torpedoes, of which 5 hit, blowing the bow off, and sinking her along with a large number of troops that were being taken to Singapore.
Anyway, here were some Indian Ocean/Indonesian area operations, great teamwork, and examples of sub attack by torpedo, gun vs. ship, shore bombardment, boarding, ramming...does anyone have any other examples from wwII? (and not just attack - also covert action, commandos, minelaying, supply, anything)
    Thanks!
