He has a language? I thought it was somebody playing an extended prank on us, you know a thousand monkey's typing on a thousand keyboards to create Shakespeare. But I kid...a little.
It would be amusing if it wasn't so sad to watch this administration fall on its face. Yesterday they sent Kerry out to say that we had allies backing us in a strike - more, he claimed that those allies are in the "double digits" though he refused to name them. Today, the White House Chief of Staff is on CNN saying that we have no allies who will actually back a US strike. It's amateur hour on the world stage. The inner circle can't even stick with a coherent story. Every time they send out a new talking head he or she contradicts everything the previous talking head was told to say.
Well, the "Kingdom of Saudi Arabia" has 28 million inhabitants. Isn't that more than double digits? And then there is "France", so counting countries alone... that makes... 1+1 = 2! See! A digit that is Double! If 1.9 gets rounded up to 2, even though it is less than 2, that must mean that "a couple" is more than two. If it's more than two, it could even be 5 or even almost 6, which would get rounded up to 10....
Well, you have to understand that Sec of State Lurch has trouble discerning what is reality and what is not. After all, he thought Richard Nixon was POTUS during Christmas of 1968.
When that claim was investigated, it turned out he wasn't anywhere near Cambodia. So, now we have a SoS that is both geographically and politically 'challenged.' He also went to a botox party at Nancy Pelosi's house and....
It appears that there is a proof that Alqaeda used sarin in Syria. Now, the US has good reason to bomb the "rebels". http://www.presstv.ir/detail/2013/09/14/323820/turkey-indicts-11-over-syria-sarin-gas/
The concern that Al Qaeda would someday acquire WMD's has long existed and this report is deeply troubling, but it is not proof that the rebels actually were responsible for the use of Sarin, only that they were trying (some of them anyway) to get it. For all we know the Syrian in the report was a former Government worker in Assad's Chem warfare forces who defected to the rebels. As Assad had the stockpiles, had the personnel trained to use the Sarin, the equipment to deploy it without excessive danger to himself and a compelling motive for their use (a insurrection that was not going away), logically he is the likely culprit.
Yeah Belasar...but there's as much proof there as there is to Assad using them...Who knows...so why do we threaten one and not the other...more reason to not do anything without the proof
Synthesis of the main component for generation of sarine in situ (at the place of use) is relatively simple whilst raw materials are readily available. The other component is ordinary isopropylalcohol. Also, handling of two components that yield sarine in situ is safe too. Therefore, you should be rather surprised that Alqaeda hasn't used it before. An average chemist with a bit of courage can syntesise sarin with no problems at all.
Yes and no. The two Sarin attacks in Japan in '94 & '95 brought possible chemical use into the spotlight. Also, such synthetically produced Sarin can vary greatly in quality. Then there is the method of delivery, the Japanese two successful Japanese attacks involved the use of liquid Sarin(whereas an aerosol delivery method would be far more effective & deadly). This article provides quite a good look at "Aum Shinrikyo"'s development and use of biological and chemical weapons http://www.cnas.org/files/documents/publications/CNAS_AumShinrikyo_Danzig_1.pdf
Please, don't be so naive! I've just forgotten to add an appropriate smiley. But seriously; back in May BBC and other media published this: Turkish police 'arrest 12 terror suspects' in raids Just look at the map below to see how close to Syrian border is Adana were these terrorists with sarin were arrested back in May. We just have now to consider who had a motive to provoke the US/UK intervention with the use of chemical weapons. If nothing else, at least, we have a reasonable doubt on who and why could have used chemical weapons on Syrian soil. You don't have to trust me, just consider what I've just said.
Thats better, we're at the consideration stage...the thinking stage...trusting stage out of the window where it should be... Has anyone actually asked in the media directly...to Obama...Cameron...Hague...Hollandiebloke....What would the repercussions be if the opposition were ever found using the stuff? Or is that too dificult a question for today's media hawks
I don't care about the chemical weapons. Or at least, I don't think the use of such weapons should prompt the US or anyone else in the west to intervene. The reason for that is simply that there are no good guys in this fight. If we attack Assad, we benefit the Jihadis who are if anything, worse than Assad. If we are going to "help" then we should direct our efforts to refugee camps in neighboring countries. Perhaps set up protected safe routes out of the country, something like that.
I'm not even with the safe routes..as they will require protection and both sides will draw us in....If there are to be corridoors then the Arabs can protect them with the air surveillance only done by us in West...All other matters of protection and enforcement of corridoors can be left to the vaunted Arab League...Lets see Saudi armour roll there instead of over bridges to Baharein. Awacs is about my limit of help to these folk.
Are we ignoring the triumph of reason and diplomacy? If no one else says it - I will. "Well done President Obama and Foreign Secretary Kerry" Removal of these evil weapons from the conflict without inflicting more human suffering is an important step forward and as Obama has reserved the right to use forced if necessary, he seems have got the best bargain possible. BTW - I do not believe for one moment that the Rebels perpetrated this vile deed. IMO, wishful thinking on th part of those who wanted to ignore taking any action.
