We now have a section dedicated to WW2 Art called Art of War. Only sparsely populated right now, we will move all threads concerning paintings, prints, sculptures, and drawing to that area. I've also dedicated an area to Trench Art in the Militaria section, as these items seem a bit more at home there to me.
We have had two rather remarkably talented artish show up in the last year or so . This may attract more or aid the ones already here. Good move, no pun intended, otto Gaines
Indeed Gaines. I wanted to do this earlier, but had some technical problems with the server impeding me. I have a smallish collection of war art myself and have always appreciated a nice work. Once the impending server migration is complete and the gallery is re-opened I'll share some of what I have.
This is a good area to explore. There are many talented artists hereabout. Nice to put them all in one place.
since the "change", I cant find Darren's art thread...at one time he was the 3rd most viewed post here. since the change, he is not on my follow list as previously was. I cant even remember his handle here ( at the moment anyhoo). but he is talented, always posted off his phone. I haven't heard from him in a year or 2. but he was kind enough to send me a coloured pencil of a night battle, guadalcanal?... I cant remember now. wish he'd had put on back of art. Pardon me, Darren for not following you on the new site...there are a lot of friends I lost in the transition. mods- if you could put this in his thread, I'd be obliged. now, I'm going to try and grab pic from phone to place here...will it work? aaand no it wont...says file is too big. another reason I hate this effin phone and computers in general. can we get an EMP, and go back to the 70"s please.
You are forgiven Tim, lol! I lost my friends as well. Glad you still have that scetch. Just over the last half year, I have taken up doing a little acrylic art. Easier to clean up than oil, and does not stink up the house much. Been trying some of the smaller size canvases, but still hard to find time. I wouldn’t mind taking a crack at doing a small painting of that scetch I did for you of GC. Get you an upgrade (and I need some new alarm system decals to put on the house. Lol!
I'm glad you're still around, Darren. I hope you'll re-post some of the paintings that you did. It would be good to see them collected in one place. Tim, if you want to post the picture, use this free resizer. It has served me well. http://www.picresize.com/
thank you, Mr Russo. I'll give it a shot. ULITHI, of course. dude, I'd have remembered...I'll PM. ULITHI, if recalling- had an awesome bit. 3rd most upvoted thread in pre/new history. Which showcased his talent...can we get a link to that thread please?
Poppy, you can always email it to me, and I'll sort it. Also, I'll track down the thread when I'm off my phone and in front of a proper keyboard.
wow. blast from the past that hit a mark. I'm happy to see that one. I was looking for the thread that had huge numbers of salutes/likes...had a lot more paintings in it. thanks for ur efforts in looking it up.
@Poppy Darren/ULITHI has a bunch of threads with several thousand views in the Art of War section. Take a look and see if any are the thread you are looking for: Art of War
okey dokey. sent pic to Otto via his gmail. and, yup. I'll take an acrylic version...Darren will never want for decals again. it will rain decals. if strippers accepted decals, he'd be a happy man.
It's been a while that there is another section dedicated to WW2 art called Art of War. well i was surprised when i already read the post
