I can't wait for the day that I have so much free time. It must be wicked awesome to just get to be super critical all the time.
It has everything to do with it, Miguel. I have no interest in listening to anyone offering advice on how we should order our lives, who has no vested interest in this country, has never lived here and knows very little about the nation, other than what is displayed on TV and movies. Portugal is on the list, I gave the link to it and referenced the page inside. It has nothing to do with whether we are right or wrong, but rather the supposition by you that we are one or the other, having never set foot in the country and truly does not know how our government & economy functions. Your statements about monies spent on internal healthcare show a basic misunderstanding of the workings of our governments. Notice I said gonvernments - plural. We are not quite a giant megalith, with the Federal government in Washington being the sole provider of services to the people. Your list that you used to try to bolster your claims that we spend too much on defense and not enough on health care, totally ingnored the monies provided for by the individual states themselves. Earlier, probably in another thread, I presented a link outlining what Medicaid is and who benefits from it. The poor do not lack medical attention, unless they so choose, which unfortunately, many do. I prefer to chart my own course and not be beholding to an entity, that while it can give someone else's treasure to me today, can take it away tomorrow. I am now going to go bathe and get the stench of this thread off of me. I hate myself when I post in The Stump.
Couldn't find it on the list... double checked it, searched the pdf and nothing. Anyway, your country does interest me and I'd like to visit the USA in the near future. Now, I merely compared the cost of Healthcare with the cost of keeping all your out of country bases running. And my point being that I don't think it's right to judge a policy without the proper information. Saying things like "it's something that'll ruin us all" is not true. I merely wanted to show that (like the example I gave) more money is wasted on other subjects which are more likely to lead to ruin than the small healthcare program BO is trying to pull. And as things are now, you're already giving your money to someone. Not the State tough... But someone is getting it. As for the poor not getting proper medic care, it was also stated that there are hospitals who don't want to receive medicaid patients because they'd loose money. And Medicaid is how money is badly spent. For instance, 60% of the poor or very poor are not elegible for medicaid. So, it's not a matter of choice that they don't get medical treatment. Here's a pdf with information on how the medicaid program is run and all it's flaws. http://www2.citizen.org/hrg/medicaid/assets/reports/2007UnsettlingScores.pdf Oh and true, your statal governments manage medicaid but, it's the federal government who gives them the money to do so. Cheers...
If this is aimed at me? don't be scared to say so. I have not been stomping you out in public nor behind-the-scenes and I don't expect to be keeping taking your punches to the Kidney everytime I make a posting.
I can post it if necessary. Anyone else unable to find it? That is not accurate. For every state dollar, the Feds add $1 to $3.30, depending on the state. NAMI | Policy Research Institute I fully appreciate how much is spent by each governmental entity, as I see the holes the taxes rip in my paycheck every two weeks. Speaking of which, had I been able to invest only half of what I am gouged for in Social Security taxes, I could be retiring in 3-4 years. As it is, I won't and will live to see my children's SS taxes raised even more to try to pay for my generation's SS. That is not right. Work hard and sacrifice to try to make a good life for my family, only to see the fruits of my labors taken by a government and given to those who chose not make themselves a good life. I have to bathe again, the stench of this thread is on me again.
I understand your point of view but I think it is not correct. There was a study showing that a full health coverage plan would make you save money. Because if everyone paid, it'd come out cheaper for everyone. Anyway, it's useless to discuss this any further. I still think there are better things to complain about than health care. Cheers...
But that is just it, only about half of us actually pay any Federal income taxes and we're getting raped and it only going to get worse. Who Pays Income Taxes? See Who Pays What You are right there. Now to get another bath. Well, I wasn't here very long, maybe I can just wipe off some.
