the German Army in ww2, by Nigel Thomas, Osprey Its loaded with color plates of Germans in various uniforms. loads of black and white pix and just oodles of information for instance I found on page 121 and thereabouts information on three topics that had me piqued. the Hiwi, the POA and the Blue Division, his explanation of the use of Spanish troops on the eastern front gives me a possible explanation of why when I sent off for three Spanish helmets one of them turned out to be a German M35 in original condition Obviously one member switched helmets with a German and they all ended up in a bin full of helmets, by the luck of the draw I got a 350 dollar helmet for 35 dollars. anyway if you have the German sickness, ie wanting to know everything about the German army this is the book.

Another explanation could be we received a lot of German materiel since the start of the Spanish Civil War almost to the fall of Berlin, including a company of Panzer IV (don't remember if J or H), several STUG III, and of course, helmets, uniforms, gold, engineers, etc. Skorzeny (and many others) spent his last years in Spain.

But knowing how things can get twisted among quartermasters it could be as you say. :D

    Stahlhelm

my other German Stahlhelm came from Norway and was an apple Green M40 shell, I have 3 other Spanish ones one of which has the ww2 style liner and strap. I had delusions of grandeur and thot I could start a German Unit among the arkies . but there is an Eastern front battle scheduled for Mar 26 less than 50 miles from here in Sheridan Ark. one of the Spanish ones I threw a czech liner and a camera strap for a chin strap and some simulated large rivets (3) it looks pretty cool

    other Spanish goodies

I carry my ww2 books and German text book to work in a Spanish ruck sack its modern and rather smallish but I like it a lot. I spent lots of time scrounging in surplus stores and flea markets and thrift shops a pawn shops looking for militaria. and I have been rather fortunate to find lots of stuff.where there is a buck to be made someone will dig up some used military stuff

"The world, she hunts us, while we want peace. She turns herself against us. She does not wish to acknowledge our rights. My German people, when the world is thus faced against us, then we must unite even more."

Thought a translation could be useful. :D

By the way, you know any online surplus store that can sell to Spain?

Any on-line store that sells to foreign countries, thanks.
An army buddy and me are opening a small shop here and would like to have some surplus for reenactors, hunters and airsoft players.
