The lady's not for turning....just before she did more u turns than a pensioner on a motorway...Mrs.T

Just rejoice and congragulate our forces and marines...Mrs.T. before someone pointed out the marines are part of the forces.

Where there is division let us bring harmony...Mr.T again on entering number 10 just before she drove a great big line down the middle of the country.

If it falls to me to lift the sword of justice....another stupid corrupt Tory M.P. just before commiting libel and ending up in jail.

I didnt offer her any money....Jeffrey bubbles bon bon Archer few years before being proved libellous and going to jail for lying to courts over prostitute payments

There is something about the night about him....Good old Tory infighting...MP describing future Tory leader Howard as a Jewish vampire character.

Obama: "My father served in World War II, and when he came home, he got the services that he needed." (Sen. Barack Obama, Remarks At The NALEO Conference, Washington, DC, 6/28/08)

Obama: "Sen. Clinton, I think, is much better known -- not only because of her time in the White House with her husband -- but also coming from a nearby state of Arkansas." Obama was speaking in Kentucky and was a Senator from Illinois. Illinois shares a common border with Kentucky, Arkanasas doesn't.

Obama: "Well let me be absolutely clear. Israel is a strong friend of Israel's."

Obama "I would immediately call the president of Mexico, the president of Canada to try to amend NAFTA because I think that we can get labor agreements in that agreement right now." Canada has a president?

Some of those did seem rather goofy when first heard, the slip on his "father" might be forgiven since his own father left the family when he was two years old, and in reality he was raised by his mother’s parents in Hawaii more than anywhere else. He might simply think of and speak of his maternal Grandfather (Stanley Dunham) as "father". Not terribly hard to understand.

The geography gaffs are just silly, no reason behind those I can figure out. Of course alot of Americans don't know where their states lie, or whom they all border either.

The one about Israel being Israel’s strong friend is probably more truth than fiction. I respect the Israelis, but for some reason I wonder whom they really "support" other than Israel.

Perhaps the form of government in Canada was a bit less well understood by Obama than it should have been when he spoke. But it is rather confusing, even when one remembers it has a Prime Minister and not a President. That Canada also has a Governor General as representative of the Queen, who as it happens, is also of African decent, is not widely known in the USA.

    See:

Role and Responsibilities of the Governor General

And the Canadian Governor General has many responsibilities which more closely resemble an American President:

"The governor general has important parliamentary responsibilities. Canada’s Parliament consists of three parts: the House of Commons, the Senate and the governor general. It is the governor general who summons Parliament, sets out the government’s program by reading the Speech from the Throne, and gives Royal Assent, which makes acts of Parliament into law."

"The governor general signs official documents and meets regularly with the prime minister and government officials. She has the right to be consulted, to encourage and to warn."

"The governor general is Commander-in-Chief of the Canadian Forces and, in that capacity, visits military bases and Canadian peacekeepers at home and abroad, encouraging and honouring Canadian military personnel."

"The governor general receives Royal visitors, heads of State and other prominent guests. She accepts the credentials of new ambassadors who represent their respective countries in Canada. In her State visits abroad, the governor general leads delegations reflecting a broad range of Canadian interests, accomplishments and expertise."

    See link above.

Obama also didn’t point out that one of his more distant cousins is Dick Cheney, according to genealogy research done by the vice president's wife. That probably was a good thing to not bring up.

That was about what I hoped when Bush the Second took office through a Supreme Court ruling.

The only thing about Bush being Prez is that al gore and john kery weren't. I voted for Bush only because I disliked himless than the running dems.

Either way-we still lost, just like now.

And the winner of crass statement of the weekend goes to Harriet Harman MP & Deputy Labour leader for her double whammy.

    Harriet Harman ~
Sir Fred should not count on being £650,000 a year better off, because it's not going to happen.

    And to follow...

That although the former RBS chief executive's £16.9 million pension pot might be acceptable to a court of law, it was not acceptable in the court of public opinion.
