does anyone know the words to that song Easy were singing as they ran up Curahee? It was the one they sang as an act of defiance against Soble, the last couple of lines were something like Highly Highly twice so mighty, who the hell are we, bing bang god damn, we're airborn infantry.' Cheers
As far as I know, that sounds to me like an Airborne Cadence Song. Remember this famous one: Model "A" Ford and a tankful of gas, hanfull of *ussy and a mouthful of a$$. Then there was another Airborne Cadence song that Easy Company would have sang and it was called: "Whatever Happened To Jody?" I dont remember but a part of it. """" """ """" '""" ''""" Whatever happened to Jody?!! She Left!! Whatever happened to Jody?!! (unknown to me at this time) Sound off! 12, sound off! 34, Cadence Count! 1-2-3-4-, 12--34! or something to that effect.
Stephan- Basically the same song is used in Leon Uris' epic novel "Battle Cry" it goes: Highty- tighty christ almighty who the hell are we zim zam Goddamn The Fightin' 6th Marines by the by, good book if you haven't read it already
Hi, I am reading it at the moment (though I admit I got distracted by other things, exams and stuff ). I have heared another cadance that was used in the film 'battleground': You had a good home when you left Your right Your mother was there when you left Your right Your father was there when you left Your right Your girl was there when you left Your right But now your glad that you left Your right (though I think 'yeah right' would maybe be more accurate) Sound off 1-2 (in time) Sound off 3-4 (in time) 1-2-3-4 1-2 (in time) 3-4 (rapidly in one pace) Personally I liked the ones in full metal jacket, used a few at army cadets to encourage people, though generally we sing a vresion of scotland the brave (though for some reason the scotts we sometimes sing it to dont approve). If anyone wants the words let me know, the title is 'there once was a lassie' and I dont think I could post it in this forum (while retaining any sort of credability as a normal, polite, member of the human race
In case you haven't got the music. I downloaded it with Morpheus, available for free at www.musiccity.com
I would like to repeat this request as it appears no-one has come up with a difinitive answer. Some friends of mine are re-enactors and will be doing a march for charity and wanted some songs and they especially want airborne cadences etc.. I think they are mad but hey it's for charity. So once again could someone please tell us the words to this cadence? Thank you.
I know what it is. You see, i use this to motivate my fellow cross country runners the one from BoB goes: Whitey Tighty Christ Almighty Who the Hell are we? Flim Flam Goddamn we're airbourne Infantry! or as i change the last line in my version: We're De Smet Cross country! Hope that helps, CvM
We fall upon the risers We fall upon the grass We never land upon our feet We always hit our ass Hedi hedi C****t almighty Who the hell are we Zim zam God d**n We're Airborne Infantry This was the song they sang as they ran up Currahee in the movie. I am guessing the one they sang in real life was different. At the time, a parachute regiment like the 506th would have NEVER degraded themselves by saying that they were Airborne Infantry. They most likely would have called themselves Parachute Infantry. Here is the 501st's version of song: We're Colonel Johnson's Troopers We're fighters of the Night We're dirty sonsabitches We'd rather f**k than fight! Hi-Dee, Hi-Dee, C****t Almighty, Who in the Hell are WE? Rim-Ram, Gawd D**n, Parachute Infantry"
I first heard the song in 1946 when I joined the 350th Infantry Regiment, 88th Infantry Division, in Italy. We sang it when we were marching. Highty tighty, Christ all mighty, who the hell are we? Zim Zam, God Damn, we're the Infantry!
