Maybe I missed posts regarding possible culprits behind attack here. Had to go to WW2talk to find out possible skinhead and/or Vietnamese gangs? Maybe someone could direct me to anything mentioned about that here. Members would probably like to be kept abreast of what was/is going on.

That was just idle speculation on my part. It could be a disgruntled militaria collector.

yes there are, IP Board for an example seems a better option, burning boards (pain to do maintanence), SMF . etc..

And yes, its a problem with the vB code, and we have to wait for the next version, or some ambitious hacker ought to rectify this...
But it shouldnt create a problem for a system in particular..

    Regards,
    TBA

Evidently, some are having trouble getting through, no matter what they try. Others may well have been scared off by the warning, although I have not been able to find any kind of virus. It's frustrating, to say the least. Anyway, I expect to be here for the duration.

Agreed, lately I have logged on and only found a few 'new' posts, and sometimes none at all, so it does seem as though we are having a dry spell. When I start looking like an elder stateman around here it is a sure sign of the apocalypse!

Still here but I'm only connecting using my home system and by using a limited functionality browser so posting is a pain, waiting for the "all clear" signal.Looks like we ended up involved in low key real life cyberwarfare !!!. Looks like the new version of vB is just as vulnerable as the old one, though probably in a different part of the code. Does anyone know if the site is being attacked by automated code or there a real cracker out there? some other history sites that use vBulletin seem unaffected, if it's an automated attack it's spreading very slowly compared to the average malware.

Yes TOS, some of my other visited sites that are using vB too are uneffected. I´m running a daily deep scan at my pc and there is nothing to find.

Hi, I got on through the link on the recent email sent to me by Otto "private welcome message to the site". Anton's always "cleaning up" our computers and nothing has been found as yet!

WW2talk says this site is basically kaput. They say because of the viral warnings no one will visit. I hope it's not true. But there's kind of a ghost town feel now *wind blows a tumbleweed across the dusty street*...I'll duke it out.....When I try Firefox, google has a warning trying to enter. When I go in anyway, the site is almost unuseable. Looks nothing like this IE explorer Yahoo page I see now. Problem with IE is I have no spell check and will make lots of sp mistakes.

I was worried I had the " Bill Clinton Virus" where it gives you a permanent hard drive with no memory.

I don't want to sound negative, but if the order is given to abandon ship, someone let me know where we should swim to!
