Nope - actually, none of the Lancasters used in the movie have survived ; they were all scrapped almost immediately afterward
ok-not the obvious answer then! I'm going to go for Mosquito in that case; didn't the movie use archive film of a Mossie dropping the prototype bomb at Chesil Beach? And if it's not, I'm going into hiding!
Gordon - you're so close ! The Mossie in the film was PR35 VR803, the subsequent fate of which is unknown ; but it sure isn't at the RAF Museum ! Go on - just one more push - keep guessi....I mean, trying !
I looked at the Hendon web site and it has been 10-15 years since I have seen the Dam Busters so I will have to guess again and say a Wellington since I recall they used one to practice the idea in Scotland I think or Wales. By the way, I have to ask, why with such a terrific collection they have a Spitfire and Hurricane stuck on a pole out in the weather!! [ 28. August 2005, 01:18 PM: Message edited by: TA152 ]
Correct ! It's Vickers Wellington B Mk X MF628, used in the movie and now proudly displayed at Hendon ( the Hurri and Spit out front are actually fibreglass 1/1 scale replicas - well, they're good enough to fool Ta152 ! ) Over to you.....
At least I knew that one, for a change! In Ice Cold in Alex, what explanation does John Mills suggest for the suspected spy's disappearance into the desert at the same time every night?

...."It's common to both sides". That'll do Martin. Would even have taken "perhaps he's well brought up"! Over to you.
In the classic movie, 'Battle Of Britain' ( 1968 ), what exactly was the Psychedelic Monster' ? ( A clue : you never see it ! )
Hehehe..very nice too ; I didn't realise someone had modelled it ! Poor old Jeff Hawke - also no longer with us. Over to you yet again, Ta.....
This actor has done as many or more war movies than John Wayne. He has 10+ WWII related movies and at least one WWI movie that was pretty good. Unlike John Wayne who plays the good guy, this actor usually plays the bad guy. Name the actor and bonus points for the WWI movie he was in.
