Really? Thanks for the tip. Early models have a complete circle glass, but due to large quantities of broken ones, a smart engineer decided to provide quarter parts, so that when only one part broke, one did not have to replace the whole thing. The fact that mine is missing probably means it used to have an early model. I've tried both models at a collector's and both glass types actually fit.

Coleman is a very good company, and will send you replacement parts for anything they make. I refurbished an old 104 quart ice chest with parts supplied free of charge from Coleman. I sent in the parts that were broken/damaged and descriptions of lost parts and they sent me replacement items, along with extra pieces with no charge. I have nothing bad to say about Coleman. They stand behind their products.

Also during an unrelated item of trivia, the Coleman company donated tons and tons of camping and other outdoor related supplies to the many law enforcement agencies deployed to New Orleans during the aftermath operations of Hurricane Katrina. Many other companies did the same, but the Coleman supply trucks got to us early and in force when we were operating with what we reported for duty with before the storm hit.

Another US Army alidade, this one much more sophisticated and made by Kalart, a company that also produced the M2 artillery compass.

Normally I don't keep the German stuff, but as these are really neat, so I decided to keep them!
Two identical night flying maps of the Luftwaffe, dated June 29.1941. They show the Grimsby area on one side and the Hull area on the other side. The maps are printed on rubberized canvas cloths and are in quite a good condition, no tears, only some grime that accumulated there during the time the maps were laying on an attic!

If someone is interested I would consider trading one of the maps against WWII US militaria!
