Those are really interesting, do I read "Lathi" as the place of the casernes?

At 8 euros each I'd certainly buy a bunch. Does yours have a WaA stamp on it?

No WA stamp on the one I have, I haven't checked the other ones but I'd assume they are captured Czech ones used for the Luftschutz . The mask has several markings on the rubber, including a German one black one with the Word 'Juni' in the date and the red markings are probably Czech makers codes (one includes a small crown) . I'll check the others when I see them.

Quite an investment, but I have been dreaming of this one for years. It is the original Gembloux Medal. The man who got this one also was awarded the Dunkirk Medal.

The Dunkirk medal was no longer there, but I nontheless got the Dunkirk ribbon which wa sinitially wrongly attached to the Gembloux medal. It took me quite a few months to find another Gembloux ribbon to go with this great medal.

Thanks Martin, it's only the second one I saw myself, a friend of mine has it cased , it's just gorgeous.

Well I returned to the Gaskmask seller today and found two other beauties:

Another Czech made mask with waffen amt serial + birdie. This one is a size. three and dated 1939 .. It has the large filter I previously mentionned and is dated 1942 .

Skipper, I have a question. I have 2 containers that look similar to the one on the right except they have an "armor" coating. No ridges and no markings on the outside. Drucken stamped on the lid inside with a series of #'s. I don't think they are WW2 vintage but haven't been able to nail down just when they were made. Any suggestions?
    Thanks

    just found a picture on the web;

The grey strap makes me think of DDR biak, but that's only a guess. Maybe John will be able to help.

Thanks Skipper, I'll take a better look tomorrow and take a picture or two. I think the straps are green on the ones I have.

It's a post war Bundewehr canister.

Although the canister is very different, the mask, filter and straps are very similar to the wartime type.

John would you also have a look at mine on the previous page. I'd appreciate your expertise. They are all good WW2 masks with great markings and cannisters too.(I found two new ones yesterday including one with the large filter. )

They are very nice additions to your collection, Skip.

The filter in post #1246 was made by Draeger. The other one in post #1247 is unusual as I've never seen that type of cardboard protective cover before.

Here's part of my collection of German gas masks...

5 German armed forces masks and filters (including 1 pre-war short canister) and 1 Luftschutz mask and canister.

Thanks John for identifying the maker of the first filter. The other filter is really typical. It's exactly the same as it's smaller alter ego from last week, but one inch taller. I thought it would be nice to get one like this. I could have bought another one, but the 1942 date made me think it was just as nice to get a diffrent type this time.

Your mask collection is impressive as well, I don't have the large diameter filters yet. That should be my next buy.

I will also start comparing my French Czech made masks and see if there are any similtudes which the Waffen amt adopted ones.

John, thank you very much. I've had these for years and use them in the 'workshop' for storage. I was 'pretty' sure they were not WW2 but have had that "I wonder how old they are" idea. I looked this morning and the only numbers were 12-121-8965 at the top of the inner case and PS - (an "L" under that) and 61 .. 24.
Now I can use them and not worry!

I thought the 'Zelt' would get your attention, Martin! ;)

Biak, your welcome. Now you can use the canisters without the worry that you may be damaging a piece of history.

The two lower left models look like WWI French canisters.
