Don't get me started on "Thriller", that scared the c--p out of me as a kid! Hard to pick a favorite Suzie, but it might be "Halloween" from 1978. My better half and I just started watching our annual horror movie fest last night at our house -"Killer Clowns from outer Space" (I know, I need help) I also have on my list: Evil Dead 1,2, Army of Darkness, "From Hell", All "Nightmare on Elm Streets" (love Freddy!), "Friday the 13th" series, "House of Wax", "American Werewolf in London", "From Dusk till Dawn" 1,2,3. "Brahm Stoker's Dracula", "John Carpenter's Vampires""Hellraiser", Exorcist, "House on Haunted Hill", "Ghost Ship", "House of 1000 Corpses", "Devil's Rejects"...and many more I can't think of at the moment. I'm not a big fan of "The Ring", although I did love "Paranormal Activity" and can't wait for the sequel!
Hi Darren, we have Halloween since a few years!!! And my daughter loves to nerv the neighbours til she gets her goodies. And i nerv the neighbours too to get my Schnaps!!
Its Halloween in Orlando every day, all those people all dressed up. I haven't participated in years, but I am technically European, where its not nearly as widely celebrated (or in the same manner).
Radar, you and Totenkopf have the right idea with the Jedi robes. When I was a kid, I was a huge "Star Trek The Next Generation" fan. When I was about 11 my mom made me a Starfleet uniform for Halloween. Unfortunately back then I still had a lot of baby fat. Therefore, when I put my uniform on, I was dissapointed when I looked like Captain Picard after binging on Krispy Kremes. Too much gut for Starfleet! I think I went as a vampire that year!
When my oldest son was about seven, we dressed him as Luke Skywalker with a "light sabre" which we purchased from one of the major toy makers. It wasn't Kenner, since it was a simple plastic tube (hollow and empty) of translucent plastic coupled with a "black" flashlight base using three "D" cells, with interchangable lens filters. Green, Red, and Blue. Coupled with this we put him into my wife's single weave judogi (which was light weight), a pair of his own "cargo pants", and wrapped his legs in ace bandages to the knee so they looked like "leggings". Jason was a very impressive "Luke" it a wide leather belt of my own and it's square buckle. He liked that outfit so much he wore it for three years, until we found a different "mask" which took three hours to apply to him with actor's make-up, and "skin-like" applications. We put it on him once before Halloween for "practice", and had a hell of a time getting him to take the "face" off so he could go to bed. It was some green alien insect looking thing that went onto his whole face with rubber cement application. He looked great, but got into an argument with some other kid (who had a similar mask) as to who had the best one. After that (in the early eighties), we didn't go in for the expensive masks and such. Just made them out of stuff we could find at home, or at Goodwill. The youngest boy was a "pirate" for two years, with a bright red blazer from his mother's collection, a black silk shirt of mine inside with the cuffs and collar whip-stitched to the red blazer, and a "hook" made of a large coat-hanger with the wooden frame cut so he could hold it inside of a cover. A wrapped "scarf" around his head, an eye patch, and he was "good to go".
Shoot, homemade costumes are half the fun! I had a blast dressing up as a gost wearing just an old bedsheet that my grandmother gave in first grade! I don't think I have ever bought (or had bought for me) an entire pre-made costume in my life.
What about Fasching? (SP?) I hear its very much like Halloween ;-)) Oh and, if I didnt already say so but, iof you want to see Halloween yearround-come to Austin.
Never have been a fan of Halloween. I let my kids go trick or treating, but told them to make their own costumes...Never like to pay for Chinese junk!. Likewise, I never decorate the house either. I'm the Ebenezer Scrooge of Halloween! bah! Humbug!
texson, is she masked for halloween or.....? Otherwise that would be another reason to move to Texas!
Cowboys have the better looking cheerleaders though. My brother and I got kissed by one when we were kids at the mall in Dallas. Greatest moment in my life!
Oh boy oh boy! One day away! Tonight is the pumpkin carving party at my buddy's house. Going to carve Freddy and Jason on it. Working on the haunted house today as well so hopefully it will be ready for tomorrow. I'll post some pics if it turns out good. If anyone else would like to post their pics from tomorrow I'd love to see them! : )
Are you ready for my visit? You know what a Bavarian needs and if i don´t get it, than: "I´ll be back!" That said an austrian but it sounds good!!!
I'm not too much of a Halloween fan either but the kids love it so I let them bug the neigbours . When the youngest wanted to borrow my German Pertrix flashlight I said no however!
