Amusing, and cannot be taken seriously...

Opens with a well-known fake photograph.

Russophobia being combated with Germanophobia...too funny.

Given the wealth of documentation and websites on the Eastern Front, I can only wonder why the OP seems to go out of his way to post mostly fake an fantasy.

Sir, I have never thought we are within porn-going age brackets or a porn-community members. It is the title of a poem posted on Medium; the contents may be debated in terms of controversy.

My post is the poem not the picture; the picture is not fake. [IMG]

If that's you wanted to see, here it is. It does not change the contents of the poem written by someone well-known in the world.....

I refuse to believe that the majority of the American people would be as insensitive as your statements read, Sir, I suggest we drop it at this point. By the way, the hangman in the picture is not a German, he is a European national, a volunteer "fighting" for Nazi Germany. This is a well-known picture, at least in Europe there are people who still remember their names.

Except, that is not the photo from your source.

Unfortunately, the poem loses much in translation.

Then why did you use a source that included it?

I believe that your intentions are good, but their execution is quite sloppy. As I said before, put more research and thought into your posts.

    And
The young woman is Masha Bruskina, and the teenage boy is Volodia Shcherbatsevich. As to the "European national", he is Lithuanian, and given the Soviet occupation of Lithuania and their treatment of Lithuanians, he is probably ready to give the Soviets a little payback.

As to remembering her name, the Soviets intentionally forgot it because she was Jewish. She was not identified until the late 60s, while the men were IDed almost immediately. Also, her name was not added to the memorial until 2009, despite having been previously identified.

It has been a good point, about the photo in terms of communication for the benefit of making sense of the facts. Therefore, changes have been made accordingly. Though your comment needs one point: Masha's hangman, a Lithuanian Nazi Officer had been granted Green Card and asylum in the US under the Freedom Fighter provision of the laws. I sense you hate the poem and therefore your hatred has certain projection effects; concerning the translation, it has been checked accordingly, are you a Russian language speaking poet of sorts? Sir, our discussion is going personal, a kind of point by point confrontation. One more point you have missed it's about the author of the poem...... Sir, it's been good talking to you. My time is up and off I go...as usual.

If you are posting a link and seriously want people to click on it then post at least a general description of what's there and how it's relevant. Otherwise the impression is that it's click bate and possibly spam or worse.

I sense that you make a lot of assumptions many of which are way off base. A review of this thread will find considerable evidence supporting my observation. Yours not so much. Many indeed most poems suffer in translation especially if the translation is literal. They may be great poems in their original language but far less in whatever language they are translated into.

It is interesting that you seem to take offence at disagreement yet have quite few times made assumptions that could easily be taken as offensive by others. Furthermore a bit of review of some of the discussions on this board would have shown that your assumptions were lacking a validity.

Perpahs, this information might be of some interest to you or some other people (this is a translated text from the quoted source):

On the list of the Soviet Army High Command Senior Officers, the Jewish Generals accounted for the following numbers: 92 - Army Generals, 26 - Air Force Generals, 33 - Artillery Generals; 13 - Armor Generals, 7 - Signal Corps Generals, 5 - Engineer Troops Generals, 18 - Aviation Engineering Support Generals, 15 - Engineering and Artillery Support Service Generals, 9 - Armor Technical Support Generals, 34 - General Engineering Support Service Generals, 6 - Admirals-Engineers. Jewish senior commanding officers commanded 9 Army & Fleet formations, 8 Jewish Generals served as chiefs of HQ of the Fronts, Fleets and Regional Command Areas, 12 Jewish Generals served as Corps Commanders, 64 Jewish Generals served Division commanders, 52 Jewish Generals served as Armor Brigade Commanders.
During WWII, the number of the Soviet Army Jewish Generals and Admirals totaled 305 senior rank officers, 38 of them were killed in action.

The title of Hero of the Soviet Union was awarded to 157 Jewish soldiers; 45 Jewish soldiers were awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union posthumously.

More than 500,000 Soviet Jews fought for the Soviet Union; 167,000 were commissioned officers and 350,000 were private soldiers or non-coms. About 200,000 Jewish Soviet soldiers and officers were killed in action.

P.S. The Source is ECHO of MOSCOW; they are a major media radio service operating in Russia; their posts and information are available in English as well; just try them if you are interested.

The material is rather interesting. The lack of context made it somewhat limited though. I also found myself wondering why you posted it. Was it in veiled reference to earlier discussions? Or just a random factoid? Or something else?

This got me to thinking about your participation so far on this board. My impression is that you are doing so mostly to get people to read your blogs. Frankly if that's your goal you aren't going to see a lot of the regulars here following them. Why you might ask?
    1. The lack of focus. In the one I've read you seem to start out trying to make a point then wander on to another and another without ever really making any of them.
    2. Lack of understanding of the board. Most of the regulars here have a better appreciation and understanding of the war than you seem to credit them with. Indeed the overall impression I get is that of student trying to inform his teachers on subjects they teach.
3.. Over reliance on questionable sources.

This board is far from hostile to bloggers, indeed look at the "War Time Wednesday" related threads and discussion to see a good example of how a blogger interacts well with this board and for some really well written blogs.

Another hint is to consider the purpose of the board. Discussion is one of the main ones but a major secondary purpose is to make information available to others. While posting it here helps some posting it so that someone who is looking for it can find it readily is also important. To that end the information above would have been better IMO posted to it's own thread with a title of something like 'Jewish participation in the Red Army during WW2'. That makes it both readily findable and would tend to keep discussion of the topic focused better (although topics will always drift).

Another couple of suggestions. Video's tend to be, except in rare circumstances, poor references. Suggesting Wiki as a reference is ok if you are pretty sure that they have little or no knowledge of the topic is ok but often one can do better. Suggesting wiki as a reference to the Soviet invasion of Manchuria when many of us have read August Storm suggest that you either don't understand your audience or are being deliberately insulting.

Living where you do I'm sure you have material available that most of the rest of us don't. Read through some of the existing Eastern Front threads and get a feel for the level of understanding here and contribute where you can. If you have info that proves one of us wrong most of us will thank you (some more vocally than others) for the new information. Also consider personal stories of Red Army vets. Many both here and in your blogs will find those interesting material.

Major Antanas Liudviko Impulyavichus signed 46,000 execution orders including the murder of thousands of Jews in Minsk and across the Belarus. In Lithuania, he and his men murdered 220,000 civilians and 230,000 POWs in WWII. In Lituania, 96% of Jews were exterminated, largely by the Lithuanian Nationalist battalions (26 Special Units?).
