In "German remote-control tank units 1940-43" by Jaugitz It is mentioned that the French had built several pieces of remote-control tanks ( Véhicle Pommelet or VP ) some of which were used against the German tanks at Sedan in May 1940. Ay idea if they were able to cause damage to German tanks?
These have intrigued me for a while Kai. Kegresse was apparently doing work on them before he fled the country, they are said to have been dumped in a river before being recovered by the German invaders and feeding into Goliath development. Another type was being worked on, as well as a converted FT17 concept There was a snippet on AHF relating to the two types: Axis History Forum • View topic - If France had not fallen... Bodston turned up this shot a while back, presumably of the VP: I've since found very little more on the Internet, sketchy bits and pieces here and there. But continue to keep half an eye out. I fear one day I'm going to have to buy that other more complete Jaugitz Funklenkpanzer book to see if it covers them better. But it's...pricey. ~A
