Hello, new member here, my name is David but I go by davepi2 as my screen name(pi2 has to do with my job, not a private investigator though). I am 56 and been interested in ww2 for quite a while although ww1 is my specialty. Since my father served in the army in the philippine islands the pacific fighting catches my interest the most although the german invasion of russia is also of interest. I am a amatuer photographer and like too take pics of sports and battlefields but the latter has been confined to civil war sites. Maybe someday that might change. Looking forward to the forums and meeting people. david

Welcome to the forum, David. What unit did your father serve with in the Philippines? We have a few guys here, myself included, who have relatives or know someone who was with the 37th ID and fought in the Luzon Campaign. Also, I hope you will post some of your Civil War battlefield pics on the forum. They could go in the Miscellaneous section under "Military History" which is for non-WW2 war discussions. thank you for the welcome. I will admit I am not sure which unit my father served in. I do know he was wounded twice in the fighting there and earned the purple heart.

Hi David, enjoyed my trip to your fine city last month, very impressed..... Ny uncle was also wounded there while serving with the 11th AB.
