This is sad these Veterans are survivors of the attack on Pearl Harbor which were at the cemetery for a 70th anniversary event which was MCed by a Colorado radio personality whos words you will read explaining what transpired at the cemetery. It is sad also that it probably be the last trip to Pearl Harbor due to their time in grade. I find it hard to believe that the powers that be would "rent" a section of the cemetery during Pearl Harbor Week, full well knowing that there would be many visitors to the area. As you read the reply from the exect. producer, he explains that he spoke to the production crew and that they stopped production till after the presentations or what ever was finished, well you know as well as I that the producer heard only what he wanted to hear. Anyway have a look and let your fealings guide you. Television...Commercialism...media magnets...x factor...Todays gods....We let it happen we now can but watch and wander.
unfortunately should we expect anything less brother....unless the camera is pointed at them for some "photo pub" do they ever really care about the common man or soldier? I think not! Only if it fits their needs....gone are the days when they signed up to do their part for the "war effort" or give a rats @$$ what we think as long as somebody is slobbering over them!:FUallplzfor CBS)
Shameful doesn't even describe it. Like the man in the article, my blood is boiling. How did such small people get the opinion that they are so important? Especially when the entire group of them couldn't hold a candle to even one veteran.
Now that I think about it, it's not only the behavior of the onsite film crew that is disgraceful but also that of the department in charge of the cemetery that allowed ('rented') them being there on that day......or any other day in my opinion. Trampling over graves is just disgraceful.
Ok, I just submitted the question of why they were allowed to film on that day to the Dept of Vet Affairs. I also attached the link to the story and state that in my opinion no filming should be allowed to honor those who have been laid to rest on any of the veteran cemeteries. I've done my bit. Off the soapbox I go and await the knock at my door from the secret service
See thats where your going wrong Pzr...I dont let em know where I live and I'm pictured in lots of strange places.
I e-mailed one/a of the vice presidents of CBS yesterday before I posted the subject here. I had to curse when I read "CBS Cares" which has several videos from various actor/sports comentator w/their bull. The local TV and local rag both were e-mailed the subject as well. As far as the program/s on that network, I do not watch at all. God Bless L*S
The whole thing is just ridiculous, really. If it was "necessary" to rent out space inside this national memorial, wouldn't you at least think that someone would have had the brains to say, "But sorry not during that week - and by no means on Pearl Harbor Day." All of the things they did are disgraceful, but on top of it all for them to refuse to even meet with the veterans for a few minutes. Why the veterans even wanted to meet them, I don't know, but I'm sure they don't care to now - and as far as I am concerned I wish that no one would ever bother to meet with them again. The people on that crew have to be the stupidest people - they were in the presence of greatness and too damned stupid and conceited to realize it...They should have been begging to get a chance to meet those heroes. PzJgr, if the Secret Service take you away, we will come and rescue you. That is, if we can find you.
This is why I rarely plant my butt in front of a TV. There are very few actors (movie or TV) that I have any shred of respect for. Very few. And with all of the countless studios and buildings, you'd think they'd be able to build a set for that one shot, instead of doing crap like this. I've never watched that show....now, I never will.
I've never seen H-5-0 and don't care to. I have one show I watch and now have another reason why it remains - the one show I watch. NCIS. There is an episode where they are at the Tomb of The Unknown, naturally I wanted to check this out after reading the above posts. Here is what I found : ".........I also want to thank the Marine Corps and our friends at the Department of Defense for providing some of the vehicles used on-screen as well as their enthusiasm and cooperation throughout. Did we really film at Arlington National Cemetery? No. But through the magic of Hollywood we tried to make it as real as possible and I hope you bought it hook, line and sinker. ...... I hope everyone enjoyed the episode. Happy Birthday, Marines. Semper Fi. Gary Glasberg Executive Producer, NCIS for the full read: Season Nine: "Engaged (Part 2)" - NCIS - CBS.com
After re-reading the guy's blog, I have to admit that he does sound rather angry ("blood boiling" and all). The studio's response? Rather defensive "we didn't do it" sorta reply. The truth? Probably lies somewhere in between. Am I gonna flip on the show next time its playing? Nope. Still don't care to watch TV, and don't care for the "its not our fault" stance the studio took. How hard would it be to say something like "our guys weren't aware they were being rude, it was not intentional, but if there was any feeling of being dishonored on the part of the vets, please allow us to make up for it on an individual and personal basis with each one"? Their response felt more like a "pass the buck" kinda thing. Oh, well, that's all of my brain-time they're gonna get. Hollywood isn't worth my time anymore these days.
Funny thing, I posted the link onto the show's facebook page and it was promptly removed. Hmmm, was it something to their disliking in there???
The whole thing is sickening and discraceful. These people are walking around like " the past is the past" and "why are you making such a big deal about it" and are clearly the sludge at the bottom of the gene pool. I've never seen the show, never intend to. Thank you for posting this Leons. I know I never would have known about it. I don't know why these people just can't say "I'm sorry" instead of the " Oh, Not my kid". I'd like to believe there is a special place in hell for these people.
