We are under a storm warning. My cat-Johnny- is slinking around. Before I could hear the thunder. Old boy appears terrified...Today was supposed to be all love and stuff, seeings how Venus is transiting the Sun... ..Japan says it may watch animals in order to predict natural disasters. Japanese city to watch animal behaviour for disaster signs - The Tokyo Times
If you see a tornado... get some pictures for me. I love tornadoes. How much does that job pay? I could probably do that.
Poppy -- take to the bomb shelter and be sure to bring your helmet. Think of it as a heavy shelling by german 88s somewhere in Normandy.
WOW..It just epic rained here. My troughs were overflowing. Went, grabbed a ladder, and had to go to 3 diff troughs in order to clean out the dead flowers from my apple trees that were clogging.. Really, really raining hard. Soaked to the bone...Loved it. Out in the lightning and thunder. My cat is freaking out...Took some pics/vid...We only get 3-4 big storms a year here.
Sounds eerily familiar. Except it's my neighbor's #@*&%$ maple tree with those %$@&^* helicopter seeds that seem to like my house.
We had a couple of tornadoes here in Central MT. (Fergus and Judith Basin counties) yesterday. A first in ninety years on record in that area. All quiet today, temperature back to near normal. Lower to mid 70s which is closer to normal/average in Montana in June in the "flats" east of the Rockies.
Animals seem to have a 6th sense about weather. Went camping with the wife down at Inks Lake (Texass), and a summer thunderstorm rolled through that Saturday evening. I knew it was going to be pretty bad when all the deer (that were wandering through the campsites looking cute and fluffy to cadge food from the campers) were all of a sudden were nowhere to be found. It got bad, indeed. Later on, as we were packing up our very flooded campsite to drive home a day early (don't get me started on that), we heard that there was a tornado that touched down and did some damage about five miles away.
My old home town of Hobson had a twister touch down on the western outskirts, a few homes and garages damaged, baseball sized hail is rumored to have killed a number of sheep and one horse. Also many windshields and home windows lost. All well north of my Dad and Brother's place by miles. No damage to the homestead. Here is a link to a couple of articles in a local paper, there are only two with photos of course. Goto: http://www.lewistownnews.com/articles/2012/06/06/news/doc4fcf735edca51646558591.txt
Yep, it was a dark and stormy night: Radar failed as tornado touched down just south of Taber, Alberta - The Globe and Mail Taber is only 50km away. ..Will reiterate that cleaning my eves in the middle of a hellacious storm was incredibly rejuvenating. Kinda wish I'd been struck, in order to join Odin, and regain my rightful spot in the God's thrones.
If you are thinking like that.....perhaps you did get struck(cleaning eves at such a time), don't remember,..... and all we get of you is what is left.....just kidding..... hope you enjoy with your little pet and I am making fun.....only because I am so jealous sitting here cooking in the Desert where we have drying golden grass in the once green meadows, and occasional plumes of smoke that drifts from the Gila Wilderness where we have had the largest forest fire in New Mexico History. I have always found Radar doesn't do much to cover the rural areas when you live in the mountain regions and the Radar is mostly placed near populated areas...usually leaving me out.
RADAR..I loved MASH....Nice to hear from you Vic...I see you are refining your victambic gotameter writing style. It's you, and I like it. ..Cheers brother.
We had a storm roll through Sunday evening with high winds and quick burst of heavy rain. Nothing much in the way of damage near us but trees down over a wide area surrounding us. Lost electrical power at 6:30pm Sunday and didn't get it back on until 7:30pm Monday. Kind of nice going back to the good old Days of reading by candle light. Well almost. Instead of a Keosene lantern and hardback book I used a LED battery lantern & a Kindle.
It's nice to see you still know how to "rough it". We had a couple of brief downpours and some wind. Not too bad - just enough to knock some of the dead branches out of the tree in the backyard.
You wouldn't have even noticed we had a storm if not for the loss of power. Other areas had trees down, some big'ens too! Yeah Sunday night was reminiscent of years ago when we only had electric lights at the cabin. No running water, no TV, outhouse for me - porta-potty for her We'd be out of power for 2-3 days at a time. Took care of that ever happening again, Monday morning still no electric so quick trip to town (2 hour drive) and before the local Co'Op got the power restored had the new generator hooked up and was watching satellite tv and enjoying microwave popcorn.
