Hello, My name is Bill. I went high-tech and used my initials as my user-id. I am almost 59 and have been a WWII buff for many years. My main areas of interest are the Eighth Air Force (particularly its use of B-17s - beautiful lines on that plane) and in the PTO, USN activities (specifically submarines and carriers). I have a large collection of books on those subjects (particularly the submarines). I love to read of the same patrol from different viewpoints. For example, reading about the USS Wahoo from the yeoman's point of view, and them comparing it to the XO's point of view make for some very enjoyable evenings spent curled up with a book. I hail from NE Tennessee. I was born in SW Louisiana, lived in Connecticut for a few decades, and am now settling down with my family in Tennessee. Other than reading, my hobbies are really related to only one thing - guitar. I play at church and I record some on my on. The other guitar player and I write a bunch of music together and in general have a blast. I was not aware of your site until my wife found it. We had gone to the beach and an offshore storm tore up the sand. She went out walking and found several items that had been buried but were now visible. She wanted me to join so that I could post a picture and see if anyone on the forum could help us identify them. Then, I started looking at the different threads and topics and decided it may be a good place to spend time (over and above doing the research for her). Thanks for reading. Bill
Hi Bill. Glad you found us. There's plenty to read on those topics of interest. Looking forward to your comments and posts. Enjoy.
Good to see you here, Bill, and I am glad you were able to come back home to the South so that you could enjoy it while you are still healthy. Tell your wife that she is a good woman for pointing you toward us.
