Maybe next year one of them can go as a V-1 and the other as a V-2. That should be a load of laughs.

It's only just starting to make the rounds here in the states, ATM it does not seem to be getting much attention.

College students huh...Only serves to reinforce my belief that good old-fashioned common sense trumps "book learning" every time.

Lot of fuss about absolutely nothing.
Unless we're going to have some sort of taste police vetting fancy dress, which would be a shame.
Been in the presence of 'Anthrax terrorist', 'F***king Disgusting' (I won't explain), 'The Penis Monster' & assorted disrespectful Religiously-themed Fancy dress. Nobody died.

Too many actively looking to be 'offended'.

The problem today is the Internet, where things go viral almost at random. Bad taste, yeah, but only offensive because some survivor or family member will now see it.

It's nice to see that it isn't just American college students who don't hesitate to exhibit their often pathetic and insensitive attempts at humor in public. It might not be such a good idea to wear these costumes in New York City. The locals might not appreciate it.

No they wouldn't. I'd bet that most of the 8 million in the metropolitan area either knew someone who was killed or are one person removed from knowing someone. I knew three. One was on her first day back from maternity leave.

Monumentally insensitive and rather stupid, but far bigger concerns I suppose.

If I was a family member of one of those people killed, I'd be outraged. And I don't blame them.

I saw Titanic-themed fancy dress costumes available on the internet.
Didn't see much of a kick up about that, but then, not so recent ?

There's an old saying in Hollywood that even bad publicity is still publicity. I'm sure these two idiots are well pleased with the fact that their offensive, irresponsible, insensitive stunt has gotten them so much attention. Do I think their "costumes" are offensive? Sure. Do I think they should be allowed to do it? Sure. Do I have the right to say what I think of their stupid, self-indulgent stunt? Abso-friggin-lutely!

Well bad taste and stupidity is not against the law yet, or is it? Some people get bent out of shape when a noose is displayed these days.

Actually A58 over here it can be...The law does in fact exist. Offence likely.......You cannot cause folk over here to see things that may upset them...we do indeed have a Blair law to cover this. Its used quite regularly on protestors with banners.

Over here they call it "hate crimes", which doesn't make sense. If you kill, beat or rob someone it's against the law. If the offense is committed against persons of one of the protected classes, it's a hate crime which compounds the original offense. I figure if you kill someone, you probably hate them anyway. I guess everyone has their silly things that seem sillier to others.

Yep, we can if the powers that be feel the need, be arrested for being sarcastic, funny, or just downright insulting...It is an offence to cause distress to anyone seeing, hearing of, or even knowing of something you have on the side of a car or banner even...Not widely used except against protestors...Stalin wasn't half as clever as us lot.

The mural is part of history. In fact the school could use it as a history lesson. What was accepted in the 1930's and why a golliwog is not pc now.Are people going to erase pictures of slavery or concentration camps. We will be burning books next?

It doesn't bother me and I saw them go down. Also wandered through the wreckage and was posted there for about a month in my National Guard unit. But I am sure you can find someone to be offended. People need to lighten up, soon all humor will be verboten so as not to hurt anyones feelings.
