The strain of years spent in a Japanese labor camp during World War II, and the toll of the infamous Bataan Death March that led there, were too much for his body. But Brown lived to be 105, the embodiment of the power of a positive attitude no matter what the odds. story continues in link.
A great story of an indomitable spirit and strong constitution. It sounds like he was able to build a happy life over time. I knew some of his compatriots who didn't do so well and struggled all their lives to overcome the physical and emotional scares they carried.
Living 105 years is almost 2 lifetimes for many, and to do it after enduring so much at the age of 40 is incredible. Stories like Dr. Brown's often have one word in common: Hope.
"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me." Psalm 23:4 May he rest in eternal peace..........
