My father was participant in the occupation of Japan. At the time of his release from active duty, he was assigned to this replacement depot. Can anyone tell me where this depot was located? Or any leads where I might find out myself.
Sounds like you might want to apply for his discharge papers. There's a thread with instructions here: http://www.ww2f.com/threads/requesting-copies-of-military-personnel-records.13543/ You might also want to look at some of the threads here: Information Requests
The 11th Replacement Depot was located in Japan and was processing both soldiers going home and soldiers arriving to replace those going home. This source indicates that it was established in Japan at Okazaki, which is near the port of Nagoya. Another source has it located at Tachikawa, which is near Tokyo. They are not mutually exclusive, of course. It was common for units to move, especially early in the Occupation.
The 11th Replacement Depot was originally an ETOUSA organization, but appears to have shifted to Japan in late 1945...it may have been the 11th Replacement Depot Battalion? The 11th Replacement Depot Battalion was at Okazaki (Nagoya) from at least from October 1945 to January 1946.
