Guess I forgot to answer this one but-yup-got some nice WWII goodies in. They are: a mint pair of 17th Infantry Regiment Feldwebels shoulderboards and a mint pair of Cavalry/Recon Oberstleutnants shoulderboards-ala-Kruska-and thank you VERY much for these my friend. Soon as I cna get to a Post Office to mail you something Imperial-in return-i'll let you know. Also, got a mint pair of early WWII American Lt.Col's Silver Oak Leaves-and still on it's card. These things still have "frosting" on them. Next got a minty 11th Airborne Division crest which is multi-colored and finally a mint German Wound Badge in Black. These final three items are only temporarily mine as they are going to a distinguished and well-loved member of this website-as payment for a nice trade for some WWI French stuff.
Hey Michelle! This was great! Turns out, some of it was on a TLC special. Very well done movie. It follows a few people thru the war and their participation in the Dutch resistance. I really enjoyed it!
Filed this under "Consumer Advisory" under militaria, but received a very much overdue package from Fairfield Mint Collectibles. I had ordered four diecast WW2 tanks and I received four model kits instead.
Hi Guys as promised, as you said Martin a Spreewerk modle the disscription I have is metallwarenfabrik Spreewerk, Berlin-spandau The waffenamt stamp 58 on the slide is Heerswaffenamt inspectors mark for Konigl. Unger Staatliche Eisen-Stahl-u. Maschinefabrik, Budapest Hungary so it my have been made there under license from spreewerk?? or just inspectered there?? The mag is 359 which is a Heerswaffenamt inspectors mark on arms from Walther, Zella-mehlis
Great pics, Neil - many thanks for posting ! I'll see if I can look through some of my books for the markings.....Spreewerk weapons are noted for their 'dog-rough' appearance as they are very much an example of end-of-the-Reich manufacturing ; visible machining marks and parkerized finish are the norm. Although it won't concern you in the UK, many books I've read warn that Spreewerk weapons really shouldn't be fired today as their manufacturing processes and quality control were very poor in 1944/45......
Just a thought, Neil - have you tried browsing the P.38 Forum ? Welcome to the P38 Web Site.... The answer to your questions is for sure in there - somewhere ! Better brew a cup of coffee and settle down for a long session - those guys really know their stuff !
Hi Martin, thanks for the link, very good site on closer inspection (with me magnifiying glass) the waffenamt acceptance stamps are 88 which is spreewerks and what looks like 68 but I have no information on this stamp
Nice P-38m mines an AC-43. I used to have a BYF Nov-41-untill it was stolen from me on Jan 6th-2000. These are the ones that go for around $1,500. It was never recovered and is now most likely in some Cops collection.
A 1/18th scale P-40B in AVG markings, and the book True Canadian Victoria Cross Heroes by Arthur Bishop.
