I dissagree. Though what makes COH so great is the bulk of the game is centered around the regular infantrymen. Of course, you can call in Rangers, paratroopers and Commandos if your play style suits it. PS-Why did they call the British special infantry, 'Royal Commandos'? And I highly doubt that the real commandos never used Gliders. Thing is about having a Pacific war COH is the Japanese tanks (Or the lack of). Though I would love to see an Ost Front and a N.Africa COH!
Agreed. But, I think it would be better to have the German vs. Russian front going on as opposed to another expansion with American/British vs. German (hence, North Africa). Either way, I look forward to more expansions in this series...
Well, IMHO, they should make a Russian one, then a N.Africa one then finally a Italy one. A Pacific one would have problems with Japanese tanks and anti-tank weapons.
I still think that a mini-expansion adding the French Resistance and the Italians would be awesome. I really want to see the Pacific...but it's not going to happen.
I was just listening to some of my British infantry then (literally, the games still running!), and I heard one of them say this; "Battalion said it should be a small enemy force. You know what that means-get ready to fight for your lives."
I know! A PE one- "They say the British are using everything they can to get to the battlefield-even abandoned vehicles!" An American one- "Hey Lewinson, play that tune again, an no singing this time Costa!" The British infantry say this one when you order them to move a long distance- "Maybe the Captain would be kind enough to build some Bren Gun Carriers for us." Or when you choose an upgrade for a PE Halftrack- "Upgrading in combat? That's insane!" Or when you upgrade a Grenadier squad with a Panzershrek- "Those Goddamn Shermans will open like Tin cans now!" I have been hearing this one alot from my Sappers- "It's not a good omen, lads!" I've noticed that the British infantry are a bit more, err, jolly, in this game, whilst the Americans are deadly serious, although on the American campaign mission, the one where you have to capture the V2 base, when the first halftrack arrives, keep clicking the 'select next vehicle' button, and the guy comes up with some funny stuff- "Click me one more time..." "I'm gonna run your ass over!" And other things you should never say to your commanding officer...
OK, I have a bone to pick with Relic and THQ. Why does their lousy patching system take 10 minutes to update and install? For crying out loud, the 2.300 patch was 40MB and yet after it downloaded (which was fast), it took 10 minutes to update. Sheesh.... Update: Be warned... this stupid patch made it where I can only see (and play) and handful of the custom maps I have in my folder. I used to see them all (and they're still there), but the game won't list them. Of course, their forums are useless.... just a heads up to those who play. Another beef I have is, THEY FORCE you to download and install these patches even if you want to only play singleplayer (which I enjoy the most). I love the COH franchise, but I hope for future installments they lose their lousy patching system and QA the damn things before being released!
I feel the same way mate. According to planet CoH, a fix is on the way. ForumPlanet - Topic - Custom maps with New patch
