Forgive me if this was already asked about searching county clerk offices for records....

Since the fire in 1973 destroyed most of the Army discharge papers at National Personnel Records Center, I have resorted to searching county clerk offices. I have had great luck in California but what has my head scratching is New York. A majority of my family is from Brooklyn and assumed they dropped a copy off at the King's County Clerks office. My problem is that they do not seem to carry any discharge papers.

Would anyone have any suggestions on how to go about getting the records in New York? Would the state capitol in Albany carry them? I thought I read on a NY genealogy website which I can't seem to find again says the state only has records from the revolutionary war. Thank you.

    Aaron
