On Thursday I paused and spared a thought for all the brave men, from all nations, who lost their lives on that day in 1944. :poppy:

My friend was/is in Normandy for this years D-Day anniversary and has been keeping me up to date on the events that have been taking place there.

I was unable to get there this year but will definitely be there for next years 70th anniversary.

    Hi,
I was in Normandy this year for the anniversary of the landing.
I have had great times. Strong emotion. I have attended several commemorations. This year the German troops participating in commemorations and German musicians played the national anthems.
Walk on Omaha on June 6 at 6:30, was a great moment.
Review a parachute jump on Utha, fabulous.
And more moving was to shake vétérans hands and talk with them.
Finally, what is the wealth of commemorations today is this communion among veterans, youth, today's soldiers, civilians of all backgrounds. An indescribable atmosphere.
Here is a link where you will find pictures that I made :

Thanks for sharing, Eric. Those were great photos. I especially like the ones of Omaha at sunrise.
