I sense a huge dollop of wit somewhere in 9s last post...

You left out big sis getting ready for the prom which this year just happened to fall on the 4th of July....And uncle John, arriving by train..same sunny day with fire crackers going off around his feet...off to stay at Carls homestead...Back in town becuase of his failed business undertaking and the..well..the women..but we dont go into that too much..

Turkey on the table...pass the pumkin pie..biscuits and gravy...

    Sorry Carl..

My rememberance of childhood differs slighty....Holes in knees of trousers...way out African diseases that for some reason everyone in Liverpool contracted...dirty faces..mucky knees..a la Cilla Black...Soda pop? Soda pop? We thought a packet of swizzles in a cup of water stirred not shaken was the real thing...

Rent man shouting through letter box of door..come on I know your in there..Priest collecting for Rome doing same....Charrabang to Southport for the day..what a holiday we had..

Some were luckier though...Apparantly we were too...always someone telling us...your lucky...we live in a shoe box in middle of road..and your lucky...we live in long grass at bottom of garden....Your were lucky mate..we lived in...

Don't listen to them Carl, Anyone who drives an Oldsmobile and goe's to Hooters has real class !

Which reminds me of anouther question to ask your submarine friend. Did they serve gas producing foods like beans and slaw on the subs, and what did they have to drink during the cruise besides coffee ?

Sorry Urgh--no passenger Trains near where I live--have to go at least to San Antonio for that--which is a bit over 120 miles from here.

The Turkey sounds great but, no pumpkin pie--it HAS to be Pecan Pie~~or~~ no pie at all.

Hi TA :D  Also to answer your question--yes--they served beans--usually Pinto beans and sometimes butter beans and Lima Beans.

Ryan--you dont know what ROOTBEER is? OMIGOD!!!!!

Actually--its a Soda pop--and is the best tasting Soda pop out there :D I cant describe its taste--its just--delicious.

Knacker, you Kama is irrevocably blown! VANILLA COKE!!!
Ain’t you got ice-cream in Oz?

If you like that you’d probably go for Root Beet. Ever chewed Dentine? It’s liquid Dentine.

ps. if you come to Pomland, I’d be careful about telling anyone you fancy a Ginger Beer! ;)

You were lucky urqh. I was once. I found a horse pat and took it to a rich lady’s house to ask for some salt, (I knew she was rich ‘cos her house had a door). She took pity and said she wouldn’t hear of me eating a cold pat. She sent me round to the stables to get a hot one! [IMG]

When it got really cold, you know, when you had to break your dog off a lamppost, dad used to go out and beg for an extra strong mint. If he got one, he’d come home and suck it, then we all stood around his tongue. [IMG]

Muvva used to take in washing. No one paid her, she used to help herself to neighbours washing lines at night. ;)

My education suffered at school because I couldn’t afford to pay attention. :(

I found a bunch of flowers that fell off a hurse. I showed them to dad and said; “Look what I got for mother!”. He said; “Bli’me, that was a good swap!”

Mountain Dew, Mountain Dew, Mountain Dew-1 on the drive to work, 1 as soon as I get to work, 1 for lunch, 1 as soon as I get back to my desk after work, 1 on the drive home, and then depending on how long I stay up, 3-4 more once I get home.

It's a wonder my kidneys still talk to me.

But hey, I get my daily recommended dose of orange juice (3rd ingredient down, right before Citric Acid, Sodium Benzoate, and Caffeine).

MMMMmmmm...I can taste that syrupy goodness right now.

Heeheehee. Folks ask me that all the time. I can honestly drink a Dew, then go right to sleep. Although my sleep leaves a bit to be desired.

I've been an extremely light sleeper all my life, so just about ANYTHING (house settling, wife rolling over in her sleep, fly farting), I wake right up. Some folks say it's the pop, but I didn't start drinking it until I went to college, and I've been a light sleeper all my life.

Dandyion and Burdok is wonderful stuff, Rootbeer tastes like a cross between chewed gum and licorice, lovely stuff. Dr Pepper is good too.

Urgh, charrabang to southport? I was half expecting you to break into a chorus of 'Didn't we have a lovely time the day we went to Bangor'. Who would have thought 15 years ago that we would be sitting here drinking Chateau De Chass-o-leey eh? Tell the young people of today that and we wouldent believe you ;)

Dr pepper is good--try pouring a small bag of salted peanuts (shelled of course) into a bottle of Dr Pepper--shake the bottle (with lid on of course) and drink it. Now thats the way to drink Dr Pepper--and with the peanuts mixed--now also becomes a satisfying snack. [IMG]

:D Glad you liked it :D

Back in the days when I made my feeble living grooming lawns--most of the time all I would have to eat and drink between 7 am and 9 pm would be a 24oz Dr pepper mixed with a bag of peanuts. Sometimes I had water and a large Snickers bar--but I liked the Dr Pepper and Peanuts duo much better. [IMG]

PS: I might warn you--dont drink Dr Pepper mixed with peanuts if your out on a very hot day--when I did--it usually made me want to be near a bathroom--and created some "natural" gas. :D Not to worry though--it only happened to me on days I had a weak stomache.

In fact--now that were talking about it--I think when I finish here--im going to buy a Dr.Pepper and peanuts adn drink it on the way back home.

Sorry Carl but I'm allergic to peanuts, I'll try it with raisins instead. :D
