as a proud welshman (grand slam 2008)i know what rugby is and as a liverpool, fan i know what football is i also watch rugby league six tackles etc.as for soccer that is an american idea but im sorry it is called football end of argument. on the other hand i always thought your aussie rules was called australian rules football? could you please clarify please tomcat.
We have three types of Australian Rugby 1.NRU, Rugby Union, the one which goes over to you guys 2.NRL, Rugy League, the one played here in Oz. NZ and a few other south east Asian countries, which is like Union by varied rules. 3. And three AFL, Australian Football League, which the aussie rules one, with the whats called "aerial football" basically kicking the ball to each other across the field on a round arean. That help
Fabregas won't be leaving Arsenal, despite all the 'rumors'. Lehmann will be for sure, most likely through retirement. Flamini, unless he gets a contract sorted out, will be going too. Arsene is right that they don't need to be big spenders during the summer. Arsenal as a team are extremely young, with a lot of skill players who are maturing (Theo Walcott anyone?) and they have some of the best backs in the league (Clichy, Sagna, Gallas). Midfield - Fabregas, Flamini, Toure, Eboue, Diaby, Hleb....maybe need a vet to replace Gilberto Silva? Upfront, Abedeyor is A-MAZING, and van Persie is back too. Walcott has shown improvement, as has the great Dane - Bendter - despite supposed issues. And of course Eduardo, if his legbreak injury isn't career ending.
pretty much clears it up but what is the difference between your rugby league and ours that they play up north of england by the way ive seen aussie rules on tv over here looks fun!
Do you mean UNION Or League? If you mean UNION from League, then there are some varied rules, mainly the fact that union is more of a mugby game, 'quick there is the ball get it' While League requires more discipline at holding a line to attack the other sides line, using skill to dodge the defenders, rather then pile ons. It is not a bad game, tou are always running, and it gets very tiring, but to watch the professionals at work is great, the skill need to kick that ball and place it where you want, and then for the catcher to recieve a ball while diving fully streched out is awesome. go Akka (Even though he is retired)
thanks tomcat yeah your rugby league is same as ours we play you and the kiwis in tri nation over here i think gb won last time. roll on the next r union w cupcmon the welsh!
What a shocking own goal by Riise....that absolutely stunned me! Well, tonight we´ll see if it´s Messi´s or Ronaldo´s show...
not as much as it stunned me like an idiot i turned the tv over on 93 mins! but fear not remember istanbul, stevie and the boys can still do it!
I think with the way Liverpool played, they'll beat Chelsea. Amazing how well they play in the Champions League (though Arsenal deserved to win...a no-call penalty at Arsenal, and a called Penalty after Arsenal tied it up at Liverpool when there was clearly little/no contact cost Arsenal). One has to wonder why Liverpool can't play like this every game in the EPL. The Man Utd/Barcelona game is supposed to be high-scoring affair, but i doubt it. I think it'll be 2-1 in favor of Man Utd.
Chelsea just won 2-1 ManU with two goals from Ballack. It will be interesting to see if Chelsea manages to win the Premiership...
Congrats ManU for reaching the Champion´s League Final. Rijkaard making some comments as well: The former Holland star was magnanimous enough to say English clubs deserve their success but Rijkaard, tipped as a potential successor to Chelsea coach Avram Grant, is not a great lover of the way they play. "The level of English teams is high," he said. "It is very difficult to beat them because they are very strong. They are very organised and all get behind the ball. It is very tough to beat an English team. "The type of football they play is only in the Premier League. They defend as though their lives depend on it. And they are very successful. "If they didn't play each other, they could easily have had four English teams in the semi-finals. "But I do feel English teams have a lot more to give. I just feel it is a great pity it is not the most beautiful kind of football to watch."
I guess he has never watched an Arsenal game? Some of the best passing 'football' i've ever seen at times. Personally, I think Rooney is a great poster-boy for Man Utd. He looks like a thug and thats the way they play. I watched part of the game yesterday and Man Utd. did close down Barcelona pretty well. I still think Ronaldo (of Man Utd) is the BIGGEST BABY/DIVER in the game. I do give him credit - superb player - but some one half his size just touches him and he falls over. Not to mention his comment about how he thinks ref's dont protect him....right....
Well another season with nothing for liverpool, they should of beat chelsea in normal time and while i see an all english final as great for the game, as a liverpool fan man u v chelsea is just to much to bear im going to take my daughter to nursery now and face the chelsea fans whom will crow how great they are. 5 times is still always gonna be more than 1!
Being an Arsenal fan, I'm not sure who to cheer for in the final! I'm going to go with Chelsea, since i despise Man. Utd. more!
AC Milan have completed the signing of France international midfielder Mathieu Flamini from Arsenal on a four-year contract, starting July 1. What will Hleb do? Inter? And Walcott?
Theo will stay, I am pretty sure. Same with Hleb and Cesc. Gilberto and Lehmann are also out the door.
The 1954 German world cup team had 11 of 12 players interned in my city of Lethbridge Alberta, within the largest German POW camp, housing 12,000 German POW's. The majority of prisoners placed here where from the Afrika corp. Even late in the war, news of allied victories where still deemed as propaganda as sorts until prisoners from other theatres started to arrive. Still though, it was the SS members whom controlled the internal runnings so to say of the camp...a pic is shown of the 11 members, in POW issued shorts/tops soccer team posing and a list of the 11 whom went on to win the world cup in 1954...
From the world of football... Martin O'Neill has told Patrik Berger his Aston Villa career is over after the Czech midfielder urged Gareth Barry to join Liverpool. ----------- Two of the three cross-dressing prostitutes involved in the scandal with Ronaldo admit they lied about having sex and using drugs with him. The 31-year-old Brazil international is in his home country as he recovers from a cruciate ligament injury and has become embroiled in controversy after contracting the services of the transvestites - believing them to be women - and taking them to a motel. AC Milan ace Ronaldo is then said to have tried to get out of the situation after one of the men went in search of drugs. Two of them accepted pay-offs of 1,000 reais (US $600), but Ronaldo has claimed that the third, named as Andreia Albertini, demanded 50,000 reais (US $30,000) and threatened to post a video on the internet if he was not paid. Two of the prostitutes have now withdrawn their allegations, volunteering the information to local police. ---------- FIFA president Sepp Blatter says the dominance of English clubs in the Champions League proves a quota system on foreign players is needed.
