    Congratulations, Kai. [IMG]

Sir John Churchill was also Great, Great, Great, Great, Great, Great, Grand Uncle to "That little upstart". (I think that is the right number of Greats! [IMG]

You turn, my friend, but nothing too difficult, please. I've had a hard day.

    Thanx KmPok!

Ok next question: What in the world was this:

They called it " Churchill's War," "The Great Russian Gamble," and "Whitehall’s Folly."

More than 600 British and Commonwealth soldiers were killed and wounded there, but it rated only as a sideshow with the War Office.

No official history was ever written of it, no medals or stars were struck. Not even a ribbon- was issued. In cash, it cost Britain £49,631,000.

Kai, does this have something to do with Britains invasion of Palestine and their arrival in Jerusalem, December 1917, led by General Allenby and the the British Governments support for Zionist aspirations for a permanent national homeland in Palestine?

    How about late 1800's CvM?

Just a wild stab in the dark, but I seem to remember that the Samurai were abolished in 1890 or so, so it couldn't be after that.

I may also be VERY wide of the mark. :D

    Thanx Carl!

    The question:Who was this person?

He carried with him a gruesome photograph of a British flier he had horribly shot apart, the photograph given to him by an admiring German infantry colonel.
