    @KodiakBeer

Thanks Kodiak for the inspiring post, however ...

In theory, you’re right, but in practice you’re wrong. I run a company within the EU and I know all advantages of the membership. In business, membership in EU means less bureaucracy; intracommunity trade is blessing for business, it provides seamless flow of goods and finances across the borders which are seemingly non-existent, there are almost no import-export formalities, VAT is quite simple, taxation, providing licenses for staff working abroad are quite simple, companies have direct access to the entire market under the same terms. Now, UK will have to negotiate trade terms with each individual member states, there will be no more cherry-picking, import-export procedures will be equally complicated and painful like with all other countries like China. There will be costs and there will be limited access for UK to the EU market, I have no doubts about that. For the both sides there will be much more bureaucracy in all aspects.

Hold on; you're still an EU member, and you still enjoy all those benefits, so why are you treating Brexit like some kind of personal insult?

    No. This is strictly business.

"Chaps" from ww2talk are personally involved here and are attempting what they have already done there: preventing conversation about embarrasing situation in Britain.

There is a "mole" from ww2talk here with a mission: to provoke closing this tread. They have done that there and he is here to sabotage this conversation. We are talking here about the subject of high importance, however, very embarrasing for some British "patriots". Shall we let "democrats" deprive us from conversation about important theme, however it may be embarrasing.

EU countries have transferred part of their sovereignity to Bruxelles, a large part of our sovereignty is still our internal affair. For these matters UK will have to talk with each state separately. We aren't British Commonwealth.

Not me personally - my country is a member of EU. UK is still a member state and will remain as long as UK wants to drag departure and UK still enyojs the most privileged status among the equal countries. And yet, that wasn't enough for some spoilt brats. BTW, please, stop throwing toys from your pram.

As a general rule, I stay out of the discussion of other country's politics, generally only asking clarification or the occasional "here's what I would do."* I find it quite odd when citizens of one country try to direct or influence the affairs of another.

There are many great features in America worthy copying. Here's what I would do first with border crossing in Calais, France:

Either you've been poorly informed or you're just making that up to feed some persecution complex. Just because people are members of both forums, have expressed an opinion on both, doesn't mean they have an agenda... perhaps like me they have the same sinking feeling about non-ww2 chatter when it veers off from being interesting and informative to going down a divisive or very circular path.

Since you can't even bother to openly name this mole of yours, your comment looks more like a desperate attempt to deflect attention away from your inability to deal with replies. I for one have the access of an ordinary member on this forum. I've not even discussed my posts here or there with any other member here or there. I've harboured no desire to see the thread closed, and had i been bothered enough by the one on 2talk I could have closed it with a click of a button. It's still there, 2talk doesn't generally like to do that. Doubt that'll even convince you. I'm aware I'd be either damned by my silence or implicated for this response.

If the subject is that important to you how about attempting to discuss in an adult way exactly what it is you as a non-UK EU citizen fear about Brexit. I'm curious about the visceral reaction to the UK's decision to leave.

As a British "patriot", born on the Continent, daughter of an immigrant, who at one stage was eligible for three different European passports, and who has close family still in both France and Germany, it's certainly been interesting to read what some of our former EU partners have been saying about us. Though as a resident of NI, it's not been surprising at all to see simplistic assessments of complex situations.

    You're funny.
The 'mole' (Moles!?) has been here longer than you, and another 2T member seems to be cracking on on your side if I'm any judge of style. There's also no 'rules' for engagement or membership between one site or the other - nor I hope will there ever be. Pretty tinfoil hat to see any coordinated plan - people are free to move between these two and a squillion other websites. They're often interested in the same things and hold similar views even after changing a whole browser tab. Imagine that.
(Oh, and the 2T thread's still open after a pre-referendum purdah. I mostly just wanted it to stay polite as it was getting all circular & nasty. Leaking into the WW2 side of things. Y'know, where people get so wound up and screechy about one current affairs thread that they don't engage so much with the core military history business.)

    Anyway.
I've been reading WTO agreements and rules. They're sort of fascinating at the moment. Well, if you like that sort of thing. Heartily recommended for nerdish thoughts about the future of trade, and indeed many trade things that will not change one iota post article 50.

Most entertaining month in British politics ever. Really very very amusing.
    What next!
Still no pterodactyls or meteor showers, which is a shame. Pterodactyls would be good.

I like getting the septic or external view (I say septic first as it's mostly septics I chat privately to about UK or US politics), though I definitely share the 'sod all to do with me' thing as well. Hopefully observations rather than lectures.
One of the better things about the Internerd for me is chilled comment on 'stuff' from those that were formed in another state.
Can't wait for reliable inline automatic translation though. When language barriers fall on the Internet then things'll get really interesting on this score (and every other score. Not least WW2). Still my lead prediction for the biggest future shift in nerdism.

In the front page of the Scottish Daily Mail today it is reported that the leader of the Conservatives in Scotland, Ruth Davidson, who met with the new incoming UK Prime Minister, Theresa May yesterday, would not rule a second EU referendum in front of reporters.

I'm beginning to wonder if businesses and banks have been leaning on the Conservative Party. The rapidity in which David Cameron has been replaced was breathtaking and Theresa May, his replacement was a Remain campaigner.

Will they use the petition by the public which gathered 4 million+ signatures to hold a 2nd referendum, which will be discussed by Parliament in September, as their excuse to hold a 2nd referendum? I would imagine the Conservatives are quite fearful of the banks shifting their focus out of London as so much of the UK economy is generated by them.

It's just very odd that Ruth didn't back up Theresa Mays phrase 'Brexit means Brexit'. I would have thought Ruth, having just met with Theresa yesterday, would be backing up Theresa's message and singing from the same hymn sheet.

Ms May just wants to ban free circulation for EU citizens but wants to keep commercials traties. This is just impossible. Even Norway could not negociate this and was asked to accept free circulation. In fact she want a membership la carte, but this will never happen.

You're the only one throwing toys from yer pram, pal!
You make it sound like no-one's allowed to leave the Holy Roman EU or something. Newsflash; we ARE, and we need neither your permission nor your approval.
What part of that are you pretending not to understand?
    I'm also not a member of WW2 T.

The bold Ruth also quickly backed up Sturgeon's pathetic attempts to be an EU version of Henry Kissinger, which is why I'm debating whether to renew my membership this summer. She's supposed to be a Tory, not a quasi-Nationalist.
Edinburgh is the UK's second-biggest financial centre, which is also not in London, so the point about banks moving is isn't really valid. As usual, too many folk think the universe revolves around the Home Counties.
I doubt if there's going to be a second referendum; if there was, I can foresee the only people voting will be the poor losers who screamed for it in the first place, meaning an extremely low turnout and the country being no further forward. So why bother?

Historian, agree wholeheartedly about your sentiment about Ruth, you would not know what she supports as she appears to change her mind on a near daily basis.

I've no idea what you're bleeting on about the banks in Edinburgh for and the geography lesson, I never mentioned Edinburgh here. I could be wrong but aren't most banks that operate in Edinburgh registered in England? I should have elaborated further I suppose in my previous post, but I was thinking more in terms of the red carpet the likes of Paris and Frankfurt? are now rolling out for London based firms.

And I don't know if you are aware the petition regarding holding a 2nd EU referendum was started a month before the June referendum by a Leave supporter.

I'm at a loss as to your tirade on an EU citizen taking an interest on the current situation. Yes, we are all agreed the vote was Leave, but the remaining 27 countries also have a say in all of this. Britain will not be dictating the terms of Brexit, an agreement has to be reached in two years with all 27 countries.

I was making the point that the world does not revolve around London, and banks and finance firms leaving there would hardly be the apocalypse since many are already in Edinburgh.
Not sure why you seem to think banks should only operate in the country their head office is registered in. That seems like a throwback to the 19th Century.
What "tirade" did you think I was making? I was merely asking someone why he seems to be taking Brexit as a personal insult, as another member did earlier. He hasn't answered either of us yet. He's now making accusations of some kind of "conspiracy" against him to supposedly shut him up.
