May I introduce you all to the marvellous blog of a German friend of mine by the name of Rob Schaefer? The latest post is the start of Rob's journey in telling of his Grandfather's war and it is an extremely moving testimony. DOWNFALL – The story of a german soldier. PREFACE | 1infanteriedivision Please also look into the archive section of the blog as some of the material there is quite fantastic. Thanks Jonathan
Thanks for sharing this blog. I read a few articles, and they seem both personal and universal. Fascinating stuff to read.
I completely agree with Lou. Its fascinating to read and also very sad. It's all too easy to forget that there were many "regular guys" fighting on the other side.
Read Eastern Inferno, which is a diary kept by a German soldier on the Eastern Front. It is by one of our own and provides a good look at what life was like for the average soldier. Frightening and enlightening. http://www.ww2f.com/wwii-books-publ...rman-panzerjager-eastern-front-1941-43-a.html
