Carl, if you do have any pics to send, PM me and I'll give you my address. I would be interested to see what you have, and I promise I will send them back.

Hi Lou, ill gladly do that. Ill start looking tomorrow morning and as soon as I find out what is what? ill send you that PM. I know that you will enjoy seeing some of the items as well as the main portion of my photograph collection-and that you will see these things with an open mind on them.

Take care Lou, and ill Pm you hopefully in the morning.

    Best regards--Carl.

PS, if I do still have some of those pics of my items? and if you feel like posting them-that's perfectly OK too ;-))

Can I ask, would you feel any different if it were a wehrmact medal? Or even a soviet medal? The soviets were no saints in any way...they too commited war crimes.

If you look at it from a different point of view, it's just a piece of history. If your a collector of ww2 items, than it's a valuable artifact.

it's not like your parading around with it. It's historical evidence that the SS once existed.

The existance of any ww2 artifact (whether allies or axis) provides a testimony
for future generations to understand the impact and human tragedy of this war.
In doing so, the hope is that it will never happen again.

"Sunny971" I think that quote is a lift of one from George Santayana, if Churchill did so in those words, I apologize for this post.

Santayana's quote was: "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it"

Churchill may well have altered Santayana's words to his own, but that's ok. Sir Winston knew a good phrase when he saw one. He also lifted Goebbel's "Iron Curtain" line as well.

well I was looking for Santayana's quote on the internet, but I couldn't remember his name. When I did a search on the quote, Churchill appearently had mentioned a quote similiar to Santayana's. There are so many versions of that quote, that it's hard to say who said what.
Anyway, you guys get the point!

    Thanks for the clarification.
